Charlie Hebdo magazine editor Stephane “Charb” Charbonnier was among the 12 innocents, 10 journalists and two policemen, murdered today in the magazine’s offices by an Islamic military-style assault team. The assassins were enforcing Islamic blasphemy law, the barbarous essence of mainstream, authoritative Islam, against the satirical magazine, which famously included Islam among its subjects for lampoon. Such blasphemy law is embraced by Muslims around the world, and that includes in the United States. In a 2012 election poll by Wenzel Strategies, nearly 60 percent of American Muslims said that criticism of Islam should not be permitted under the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment. A highly alarming 11.5 percent of respondents said that those who parody Islam should be put to death. Another 9.3 percent were unsure.
Charbonnier publicly rejected Islamic blasphemy law. He lived, as he said in 2012, “under French law. I don’t live under Quranic law.” This meant that he and his colleagues lived as free men, but in this new golden age of Islam, that meant they did so under constant threat of Islamic violence (including the firebombing of the magazine’s offices) and also static from their dhimmi media brethren. Such is free life and violent death in a crumbling republic beset by Quranic law and its bloodthirsty enforcers, its quisling government and elites impotent or enabling in the face of the expansionist tyranny of Islam.
And now? Expect an outbreak of violent handwringing in the media and on government podiums. Expect talk of generic “terrorism” (nothing to do with Islam), or perhaps ISIS (also nothing to do with Islam). Expect the confusion and paralysis of the post-9/11 era to be renewed for 2015 in a welter of talk about bad “Islamism” and “good” Muslims.
In other words, expect the existential threat to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to continue to go unaddressed, undiscussed. That is because the existential threat is contained within Islam itself – within the totalitarian impulse that expresses itself in Islamically correct death penalties for free speech, reviled in Islam as “blasphemy,” and freedom of conscience, reviled in Islam as “apostasy.” Such harsh realities will remain shrouded in silence even if they have once again been drenched in blood. Non-Muslim peoples will still refuse to recognize these totalitarian laws at the heart of Islam; Muslim individuals who express revulsion at their murderous results will still fail to disavow these laws and demand their abolition.
The only progress the West will make will be to the next jihad attack.
Unless, that is, enough people decide to listen to the Netherlands’ Geert Wilders, who responded to the Paris massacre with a statement:
“The assassinations of 10 journalists and two policemen today in Paris serve as a warning to all the countries in the free world. We are at war. Charlie Hebdo was under police protection following numerous threats because of its outspoken criticism of Islam. Despite the protection by the police, terrorists were able to murder their opponents.
“Western governments have to realize that we are at war. We should no longer show any respect for an ideology that rejects our fundamental values. The only way to defend our democratic values and fundamental freedoms is to start the de-Islamization of our societies.
“We have to close our borders, reinstate border controls, get rid of political correctness, introduce administrative detention, and stop immigration from Islamic countries. We must defend ourselves. Enough is enough.”
The free journalists of Charlie Hebdo, RIP.
