UANI Launches the "Iran Engagement Clock"
New York, NY -
United Against Nuclear Iran today announced the launch of the "Iran Engagement Clock." The Clock tracks the time that has elapsed
since President Obama, during his inaugural address, initially extended an open
hand of unconditional diplomatic engagement to Iran. To date, Iran has rejected America's offer of
a diplomatic resolution, and instead has continued to pursue an illegal nuclear
weapon. The Clock will serve as a daily
reminder to American policymakers and the international community that the
United States has pursued diplomatic engagement for more than 520 days and
counting. The Clock should serve as an
impetus for the adoption of domestic and international sanctions that can have
a real and material impact on the regime.
Delayed action benefits only the Iranian regime and allows it the time
it needs to successfully develop a nuclear weapon.
Referring to the "Iran Engagement Clock," UANI President
Ambassador Mark D. Wallace said:
It has been over 520 days since President Obama initially
extended a hand to Iran. Iran has only
offered its fist in response. Iran has
made false promises to buy time to develop its nuclear capacity. UANI urges the Obama administration and the
international community to act immediately and decisively to enact meaningful
sanctions against Iran. Five hundred and twenty days and counting of
delay and inaction benefits only Iran as it proceeds unimpeded on a path to a
nuclear weapon.
