A Life on the Line

A Life on the Line

By JanSuzanne Krasner

I wonder if an ex-Muslim who has converted to Christianity is considered by his Muslim family, friends, and fellow Muslims to be an 'Islamophobe' for his criticism of the God of Islam, Allah, and for calling the ideology of Islam and the Qur'an the biggest lie in history? Al Qaeda thinks that and worse: it has called the words and actions of Mosab Hassan Yousef a crime punishable by death... and that is just for his conversion from Islam to Christianity.

Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of one of the cofounders of Hamas, once president of the Islamic Youth Movement and now considered by many followers of the Qur'an to be a traitor, has clearly been on a mission since 2007: to shake up the billions of believers of Islamic ideology with his seditious interviews, speeches, and writings... including this 11 minute video in which he does just that.

In this video, Yousef is clearly talking to both Muslims and non-Muslims as he crusades to expose what he believes is the core issue of Islam that finally made him leave.

"The problem is in the God of Islam. This is shocking, and unfortunately this is a reality about this God. He is a God of torture, he's a deceit God. This is what he talks about himself. Every Muslim who reads the Qur'an and allows themselves to listen to this Qur'an and believe at the same time this is from God, I think they are sick and they need help."

In Yousef's fearless critique of the God of the Qur'an, he also makes the distinction that there are Muslims who will open their ears to what he is pleading for: "Understand your religion before you are offended." He is not advising Muslims to exchange their god for the God of love which he found in Christianity. He is out to shake them, to make them first acknowledge that the voice in the Qur'an is filled with hate and the desire to have all non-Muslims -- the non-believers -- be killed or required to submit to Allah.

Yousef fervently says: "Unfortunately, their God doesn't have a minimum amount of humanity. He unskinned their humanity. He wants them to be beasts... Our problem is with their God, our problem is with their ideology. Please to understand the difference between Islam and Muslims. Please, Muslims are wonderful people. The worst criminal terrorist Muslim has moralities, responsibilities, and logics than the God of the Qur'an."

He adds to this picture: "I believe that Islam is collapsing already... it looks from the outside that it is growing, but from the inside it is completely collapsing. It's not giving answers to the people, it's not improving their lives, and it's not helping them at all. Within 10 years, that's it, Islam's going to be over. Hamas starts to get suspicious about everybody, about themselves, about their wives about their children, about everybody. They torture. You're not allowed to say anything."

Yousef: "Yes, they tortured and killed their own people... They put needles under the fingernails. Hamas leaders that we see on the TV now, and big leaders, were responsible for torturing their own members."

The fact is that Yousef witnessed Muslims being tortured in Arab prisons and atrocities committed by Hamas against their brethren. Then, while captive in an Israeli jail along with his father, Yousef experienced humane treatment by his lifelong enemies, the Israelis. This was a stark comparison which made him vulnerable to becoming one of the top informers for Israel's Shin Bet for over a decade... and led finally to his conversion to Christianity. He has been one of the faithful living in California since 2007.

Yousef states: "What I am trying to tell you... Your problem, my problem, the world's problem is not with Muslims. The majority of Muslims are great and wonderful people. They are my people. I know their pain, I know suffering and I know their hearts... We are comparing Ideologies."

He continues: "Islam as a religion in general is a lie wrapped with some facts and truths and I am talking this with authority of somebody who understands exactly what Islam is all about. And it's the biggest lie in history, in my opinion. And this is the biggest danger: that about a quarter population of earth believe that this is a religion from God."

In one comment Yousef explains how the Qur'an is interpreted and twisted to be just what one wants it to be. "What Muslims, Muslim sheiks or religious people do is that they focus only on one part of Islam that they need at a time. If it's a wartime zone they are talking about Jihad. They bring up the verses that apply. It's like a very political religion and this way I found out that Islam is the most bi-polar religion on Earth. That you can find anything you want."

Yousef has put himself in the public eye before, in 2008, as the 'Born Again Son of Hamas,' and in March 2010 when he introduced his book 'Son of Hamas.' The reaction in 2008 from the Global Islamic Media Front was a six-point statement that Muslims should consider in response to Yousef's claims at that time.

I found number 6 to be quite 'creative' an argument as to why Yousef left Islam:

6. Israeli and Hamas oppression in Gaza is probably the biggest reason for Yousef's apostasy. This does not justify it, but it is possible that God will guide him back to Islam.

This video is going to make many Muslims angry. But at the same time, Yousef trusts that there are many Muslims who have been waiting for the day when someone born in their world would have the courage to speak out knowing he would become a 'dead man walking.' Yousef puts his life on the line because he believes that he could be one of the people that will open the door for the next generation of Islamic children, freeing them of the bondage of blind hatred.

It should be noted that the only real hope for long-term Middle-East peace is to stop the hatred of non-believers, especially of Jews, that is passed on through the Qur'an from generation to generation. And that is why this video is so important to Yousef and his mission.

The networking of this video is part of the essential work being done by Yousef and others to help expose the tyrannical nature of the voice in the Qur'an. It is particularly significant in light of the recent activities of the Organization of Islamic Conferences (OIC) in the UN as they try to do what Yousef says they are doing... calling for a global blasphemy law.

Based on this video alone, Mosab Hassan Yousef will be a marked man for life... and we all need to protect his right to say these words.
