Another Benghazi Update!

TREY GOWDY AS CHAIR OF SPECIAL BENGHAZI COMMITTEE – By Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations As I noted in yesterday’s e-mail, after over 18 months of sustained pressure on federal legislators by you and our other 280,000 grassroots activists – including thousands of office visits, phone calls and e-mails to members of the U.S. Congress – ACT helped get over 182 congressmen (over 80 percent of House Republicans) to co-sponsor Rep. Frank Wolf’s bill creating a Benghazi special Committee. Due in part to this immense pressure, last Friday House Speaker Boehner announced that he will convene a special Benghazi committee. Yesterday he appointed Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) as its Chair. Shortly after the Speaker’s announcement last Friday, Congressman Wolf issued the following public statement: [click here to view larger document] We are very proud of this accomplishment and consider the Speaker’s announcement last week to be one of our biggest victories, to date. Sometimes our victories will take time, as the creation of a Benghazi committee has, but you can be sure that if we continue to work together, more achievements are up ahead.
