Capitol
Hill Awareness
Refugee Vetting and Our
National Security
By Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government
Relations
Last month, ACT for America sponsored
a congressional staff briefing on Capitol Hill, led by
former DHS official, Philip Haney. The title of the
presentation was: Refugee Vetting: Is Our National
Security at Risk?
If Mr. Haney’s name sounds familiar, it’s probably because he is
the DHS whistle-blower who was tracking people affiliated with
the Islamic Deobandi movement -- such as the San Bernardino
jihadists, Sayed Farook and Tashfeen Malik. His work at DHS was
shut down, so as not to offend the Muslim community. He has been
publicly speaking out about why the U.S. refugee vetting system
is dangerously broken.
ACT for America has held many congressional briefings over the
years, but the response to this particular one was like none
other. Two days prior to the event, I had to stop accepting
RSVP’s as the room was already well over capacity. From that
point up until the time of the briefing, I received 60 additional
requests for attendance.
We videotaped this incredibly informative Capitol Hill briefing,
which is available to you exclusively online here
when you become an ACT premium member for just $25 a year.
Make sure you send this email to all your friends and encourage
them to join us, too. Working together, we will save this nation.
This important briefing by Philip Haney is a must-have tool
to educate about how and why the U.S. refugee resettlement
vetting process is dangerously broken. We assure you what you will learn
from Phil will shock you, and you will understand why it is so important
for the American grassroots to speak out.
Become a premium member of ACT for
America today and view this exclusive briefing for members-only
(and other exclusive content like it) throughout the year.
Considering the tremendous amount of interest by Capitol Hill in
our most recent refugee briefing, we are planning another one
toward the end of July — before Congress adjourns for summer
recess.
Thanks to all of you, our financial supporters who make our very
important work possible. We are only as strong as those who stand
behind us.
