Obama Tries To Play Yemen Whac-a-Mole – Without A Mallet – Part 3
The heavy hitters in our global Whac-a-Mole game, President Obama and U.S. Army General David Petraeus, have had their mallets confiscated by the Yemeni government. Maybe we should take the hint and stay out of there.
In part 1 and part 2 of this series I explained the futility of chasing al-Qaida and the Taliban as they pop up in various remote locales around the world. The January 4th news report in the Los Angeles Times by Borzou Daragahi tells us that Petraeus visited Yemen on January 2, 2010, and pledged intel assistance to Yemen. Obama, according to Daragahi’s report, wants to “step up intelligence-sharing and training of Yemeni forces and perhaps carry out joint attacks against militants in the region.”
If Obama is serious about putting more military personnel into yet another jihad hot-spot in the Middle East, fettered by the Rules of Engagement that have tied our armed forces’ hands, and lost lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is high time to contemplate the possibility that the C.I.C. is deliberately trying to break down the morale of our military forces, and destroy our will to go on with the fight for our national survival. It is also high time to forget this strategy we are pursuing and change the modus operandi of our defense.
The AP’s Lee Keath reports via The Denver Post, that the Yemenis do not want us sending our invading Infidel troops into their territory:
“Yemen’s foreign minister said Wednesday that his country opposes any direct intervention by U.S. or other foreign troops in the fight against al-Qaida.
Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi told The Associated Press in an interview that “there is a lot of sensitivity about foreign troops coming to Yemeni territory.”…”
I’ll bet there is a whole lot of sensitivity about that. From scholar of Islam and prolific author Robert Spencer’s book “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades comes this:
“…In Islamic theology, if any land has ever belonged to the House of Islam, it belongs forever – and Muslims must wage war to regain control of it…”
Small wonder it is that al-Qirbi is so sensitive, when he looks at our ongoing occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Resuming the Denver Post report, later in the text:
“…Al-Qirbi said Yemen’s government would welcome more military trainers, “but not in any other capacity.”
That means more Infidel cash, too, I’ll wager. Infidel money is always welcome in dar al Islam.
“There is a lot of debate among them about how far they should get involved in Yemen,” al-Qirbi said, referring to the United States and its allies. “I’m sure that their experiences in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan will be very useful to learn from – that direct intervention complicates things.”
So far the U.S. has indicated it is not aiming to deploy ground forces in Yemen. President Barack Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, said earlier in the week, “We’re not talking about that at this point at all.”
Wait a tic. Didn’t the L.A. Times just tell us that Obama said our forces might carry out joint attacks with Yemeni troops against terrorists? Then his top counter-terror guy directly contradicts him. I’m rubbing my eyes, again.
This Whac-a-Mole strategy in Muslim States, combined with a Commander In Chief and Joint Chiefs of Staff who know nothing about Islam, is just going to lead us further down the road to the cliff and the abyss.
Robert Spencer’s phone ought to be ringing off the hook right now.
