UANI Announces Billboard, Renews Call to CMA CGM to End Its Business in Iran
New York, New York -United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) today renewed its call to CMA CGM to end its business in Iran, and its call to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia to investigate CMA CGM. UANI announced the launch of a billboard near CMA CGM's U.S. headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia and the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
CMA CGM is the world's third-largest container shipping company, and has recently been increasing business in Iran even though its ships have been discovered to be transporting weapons from Iran to terrorist organizations.
The UANI billboard in Norfolk is located at 3146 N. Military Highway, less than a mile from CMA CGM's headquarters, and reads "CMA CGM transports Iranian weapons bound for terrorist organizations. It's time to choose ... US OR THEM! TAKE ACTION AT UANI.COM"
Said UANI President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace:
By doing business in Iran, CMA CGM is empowering the regime and terrorists around the world. At least three of CMA CGM's vessels have been seized recently and found to contain weapons bound for terrorist organizations. CMA CGM's business in Iran is completely irresponsible and the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia should investigate their compliance with U.S. sanctions.
CMA CGM should join the list of responsible corporations who have ended their business in Iran. By taking a stand against a regime that sponsors terrorism and is developing an illegal nuclear weapons program, CMA CGM would be sending a strong message that the American people would respect and commend.
