The Catholic bishops of the U.S.
have called for the nation's Catholics to observe the two week period
starting today and running through the Fourth of July as a "Fortnight
of Freedom" in which they hope Americans will pray for the
preservation of freedom in this country and speak out clearly against the
unprecedented attacks on religious liberty that have issued from the
federal government.

Congress is poised to deliver a
defeat to the Obama administration on one of its main defense policies in
the new budget - base closings.
What the intelligence community
needs is nothing short of restructuring on the magnitude that the 1986 Goldwater-Nichols
Act reformed the command structure of the U.S. Armed Forces. Can we
accomplish this?
It was assumed that horror of
such magnitude as the Holocaust, perpetrated by millions of willing
executioners, must never again occur in the world. Has the cataclysmic
lesson of that shameful genocide been ignored?
The production of the Block 1B
version of the Navy Aegis based Standard Missile (SM-3) may be cut by more
than half. This will undermine our ability to best implement US security
policy.
Unlike the dangerous
across-the-board Clinton cuts of the 1990s, the current funding cuts ensure
that no important operational intelligence capabilities are impacted, such
as what contributed to the U.S. being blindsided on September 11, 2001.
In contemporary France, there is
a three ring circus in progress where violence against Jews remains an
optic through which the other components of anti-Zionism, Marxist
anti-imperialism, anti- immigration and plain old Jew hatred show their
ugly stubborn existence.

In the wake of President Barack
Obama asserting executive privilege to withhold Operation Fast and Furious
documents from Congress, the Department of Justice has withdrawn a second
statement made to Congress because it was inaccurate.
The issue in F&F is not the
withholding of DOJ documents. The issue is the reckless provision of an
arsenal fit for an army to violent cartels, quite predictably resulting in
the murders of possibly hundreds of people including at least one United
States law enforcement officer.

"How can the president
assert executive privilege if there was no White House involvement? How can
the president exert executive privilege over documents he's supposedly
never seen?"
President Barack Obama asserted
executive privilege for the first time Wednesday, escalating a fight with
congressional Republicans over documents about a gun-trafficking probe.
