In 1998, Sarbjit Athwal was called to a
family meeting in their attractive house in West London. Her elderly
mother-in-law stared proudly around, then raised her hand for silence. 'It's
decided then,' the old lady announced. 'We have to get rid of her.' Within
three weeks, Surjit Athwal, Sarbjit's sister-in-law, was dead: Lured from
London to India, drugged and strangled, never to be seen again. Risking her
life, Sarbjit secretly fought for justice for nine long, scared years.
Eventually, with immense bravery, she became the first person within a
murderer's family ever to go into open court in an honor killing trial as the
prosecution's key witness, and the first to waive her anonymity in such a
trial. As a result of her testimony, the trial led to the first successful
prosecution of an honor killing without the body being found. But her story
doesn't end there. |

The
motto of the Muslim Brotherhood is: 'Allah is our objective. The Prophet is
our leader. The Qur'an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of
Allah is our highest hope. Allahu akbar!' I suggest that the reference to
jihad disqualifies this organization from any place in Western culture and
that the Muslim Brotherhood should be made an illegal organization.
