These days the lesbians of Lesbos are not gay
Despite the expectation of some American tourists, the Greek isle of Lesbos is not very gay. That issue wasn't resolved by a lawsuit filed by island residents who wanted "Lesbians" to refer to them rather than to well... lesbians.
These days though the lesbians of Lesbos are not gay because their island has been overrun by a wave of Muslim colonists.
Record-breaking numbers of migrants are arriving on the Greek island of Lesbos, overwhelming local authorities, local police say. This is how you colonize a place. If only the lesbians of Lebos were Lesbian, this would be considered a hate crime.
About 1,600 landed on the island on Saturday alone, the island's chief of police said.
Police said they were working 24 hours a day to process the new arrivals but can only manage 300-500 per day.
More migrants landed on the island in June than in the whole of the previous year, according to the UN.
There were approximately 15,000 arrivals in June, compared with 12,187 in 2014. Lesbos has a population of just over 86,000.
Most of the migrants land on the north of the island at the closest point to Turkey and have to walk 40km (25 miles) to the other side of the island to register and apply for papers. The papers will allow them to remain in the country for between one and six months.
The migrants are being housed in tents erected on an abandoned race track and in the island's only official detention facility.
On the waterfront beneath this village of stone houses cascading down a castle-topped hill, two worlds collide. Tourists saunter along the pier, gazing at the fishing boats bobbing in the harbor. A group of Afghan children who risked their lives to get here on an overloaded dinghy play in the shallow water.A lot of the refugees are Syrians which really promises to liven up Lesbos' nightlife. And lefty activists are finding ways to make things worse.
"It is very sad. It goes through my heart for those people and the children who are hungry," said Dutch tourist Marianna Kuipers. "On the other hand, it's my vacation and that's not nice to see."
The refugees "need help very quickly," she said, before wading into the water to talk to the young Afghans.
On Lesbos, which is just a short boat ride from the Turkish coast, local volunteers — including expatriates from other parts of the European Union and tourists — have even risked arrest for violating a law against helping to transport migrants from the shore to Mytilini, the island’s capital. So now we have idiots aiding future terrorists taking over lesbian island while taking selfies. Well done, well done.
