Sham al Islam, a group founded by former Moroccan detainees at
Guantanamo Bay, has merged with a local Syrian faction in order to
"unify the ranks" and to "protect the jihad" in Syria.

The establishment of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) is
