While the experts wrangle about how dangerous the contamination of the Pacific by Fukushima radiation is to the US, some forward-looking folks in Marin County, CA, are taking matters into their own hands. County supervisors are concerned enough to start monitoring food and water for radiation.

And the Marin town of Fairfax has passed a model resolution, asking for UN intervention at Fukushima. Readers of this post could do the same in your town or county. At least, this would raise awareness of the danger, and might help get qualified experts into Japan.

Meanwhile, Japan proceeds toward fascism with a new secrecy act that allows the government to jail Fukushima whistleblowers, thus cutting off a vital source of information about what is happening on site, how much radioactivity is entering the Pacific, etc. And experts all over the world are expressing great concern about the molten cores of reactors 1, 2, and 3, which are so hot that TEPCO can't find out what is happening. Some fear they have reached "criticality"- uncontrolled chain reactions. Many knowledgeable people feel great frustration at being unable to help the situation, due to Japan's go-it-alone stance.
And sea animals continue to show signs of injured immune systems, with dieoffs of sea stars, sea birds, strange behavior by mammals, etc.
