The Citadel Says No to Hijab Exception
 Thank you for
taking action on the two Action Alerts we sent out in April when The
Citadel was considering a Muslim hijab uniform exception.
Due to the efforts of ACT for America and our members, Citadel
officials received thousands
of emails expressing concern and frustration over this troubling
consideration. They have now decided that they will not alter their
long-standing uniform policy by allowing a newly-accepted female
student cannot wear a traditional Muslim headscarf if she enrolls in
the fall.
The work of a strong and powerful grassroots army of passionate,
patriotic citizens from all across the country were part of this
decision. YOU acted for America. And in doing so, YOU made a
difference.

The Washington Post: “At the Citadel, students are expected to leave behind
their individuality — and almost all of their possessions — and form
opinions based on character rather than appearance. Allowing one
student to wear something completely different struck many as
antithetical to that mission. And some objected, as well, because
exceptions have apparently not ever been made for other religions.
Christian cadets have been told not to display crosses, for example.”
Thank you to all who sent emails to The Citadel on this important
issue. Thank you for all you continue do for our great nation.
Always remember: if each of us does just a little, together we
can accomplish a lot.
