UANI IN THE NEWS

"From a military standpoint, the unveiling of the 'Kowsar-88' is not significant at all," said Jordan Steckler, Iran research analyst at the US-based think tank United Against Nuclear Iran. "Today's unveiling is best understood as being for domestic propaganda purposes, coming at a time when the regime faces mounting internal pressure due to the re-imposition of US sanctions, as well as escalating protests over its economic and environmental mismanagement and corruption." "The sanctions regime against Iran has effectively limited its ability to maintain its ageing fleet and increased its reliance on China and Russia for parts," said Mr Steckler. "The notion that Iran's air force poses a deterrent to the US, Israel, or America's Gulf allies is not credible".

NUCLEAR DEAL & NUCLEAR PROGRAM

Iran says Britain has stepped in to help it redesign a reactor following the U.S. withdrawal from Tehran's nuclear agreement with world powers.

U.S.-IRAN RELATIONS & NEGOTIATIONS

A senior Iranian cleric warned Washington on Wednesday that if it attacked Iran, the United States and allied Israel would be targeted, as a war of words escalated after the United States reimposed sanctions on Iran. Ahmad Khatami also told worshippers attending Eid prayers in Tehran that President Donald Trump's offer of talks with Iranian leaders was unacceptable as the U.S. leader wanted Tehran to concede on its missile program and regional influence.

MILITARY/INTELLIGENCE MATTERS & PROXY WARS

Military experts have cast doubt on claims that a fighter jet unveiled by Tehran as the first to be produced solely in Iran represents a technological advance, drawing comparisons to American warplanes sold to the Shah half a century ago.

Renewed naval exercises, missile tests, and other developments point to a broadening threat, but their muted nature indicates that Tehran is trying to avoid popular backlash at home.

IRANIAN INTERNAL DEVELOPMENTS

Khuzestan's water crisis and the public backlash that it has caused are a preview of the challenges that Iran will endure in the years to come.

RUSSIA, SYRIA, ISRAEL, HEZBOLLAH, LEBANON & IRAN.

IRAQ & IRAN

Iraqi sources attributed the failure of the meeting of the political blocs' leaders, in Babylon Hotel Sunday evening, to the interventions of Iran and Qatar, where both countries contacted and exerted pressures on the Kurds and Sunni Arabs to boycott the meeting.
