Kerry Gives Up Even Pretending to Stop Iran’s Nukes
Obama Inc. tripped over its own feet a dozen times trying to sell Syrian intervention. When that imploded, they began making even bigger fools of themselves trying to sell their Iran nuke sellout.
Here’s John Kerry conceding the minor matter of Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Kerry said the U.S. and its negotiating partners are “not fixated” on the issue of so-called “possible military dimensions” because they already have a complete picture of Iran’s past activities.Let’s summarize some of the crazy lies and strange claims here.
“The possible military dimensions, frankly, gets distorted a little bit in some of the discussions in that we’re not fixated on Iran specifically accounting for what they did at one point in time or another,” he told reporters at the State Department by video link from his home in Boston, where he is recovering from surgery on a broken leg.
“We know what they did,” Kerry said. “We have no doubt. We have absolute knowledge with respect to certain military activities they were engaged in. What we’re concerned about is going forward. It’s critical to us to know that going forward, those activities have been stopped and that we can account for that in a legitimate way.”
“That clearly is one of the requirements, in our judgment, for what has to be achieved in order to have a legitimate agreement” he said. “And in order to have an agreement, to trigger any kind of material, significant sanctions relief, we would have to have those answers.”
Kerry claims that the US has “absolute knowledge with respect to certain military activities”.
That’s absolutely comforting in certain ways.
For that matter, the NIE tried to undermine Bush by claiming that Iran was not trying to develop a nuclear bomb. Clearly it’s one of those peaceful nuclear programs involving chants of “Death to America” and ballistic missiles.
Now Kerry expects us to believe that all the intel on Iran’s nuclear program is correct and certain, especially the wrong intel, and that it doesn’t matter what Iran did, because we already know everything and we can focus on prevention.
This is nonsense.
Even if the CIA were far more competent than it actually is, it wouldn’t know everything about Iran’s nuclear program.
The discovery of the secret Fordow enrichment facility in 2009 served as a historical lesson that Iran has developed a covert nuclear infrastructure. The article also mentions the assessment of intelligence officials who “say hundreds, perhaps thousands, of underground bunkers and large tunnels now honeycomb the nation.”Kerry is conceding Iran’s nuclear past, admitting that Iran will never allow meaningful inspections or reveal its activities, and is now going to toss out empty promises that our intel is so omnipotent that we’ll know everything.
The Times reports that in order to address the suspicions that Iran has hidden nuclear facilities adequately, inspectors would have to be “the right to roam the nation widely,” but that it is unlikely that Iran would agree to such invasive inspections.
If Iran can’t even be expected to cooperate on its past weapons programs, what are the odds of getting it to cooperate on future weapons programs?
Zero.
