Canada: Muslim MP defends her association with antisemitic, jihad-linked Palestine House

“Liberal MP Iqra Khalid is pushing back against criticism over her decision to introduce a religious leader at an event” organized by the virulently antisemitic Palestine House. This story is a followup to the Jihad Watch post on Tuesday: “Canada: On Trudeau’s behalf, Muslim MP Iqra Khalid honours anti-Israel activists”.

Khalid participated in “Land Day,” which “symbolizes the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) determination to ‘liberate’ ‘Palestine’ by wiping Israel off the map.” After widespread concern was voiced about her involvement with jihad terrorists, Khalid lamely tried to excuse her actions by echoing Prime Minister Trudeau’s diversity mantra as her defense:

Like any MP, I engage with a diverse array of individuals, stakeholders and groups in my community-many of them I don’t agree with.

By now, Khalid’s deceit should be widely known. Accountability is owed to Canadians.


Khalid is in hot water for introducing an Assad supporter, Archbishop Atallah Hanna. Hanna is also a Palestinian activist who supports jihad suicide bombings. Khalid supports the antisemitic Palestine House, and Palestine House supports her, contrary to her attempts now to distance herself from it. At the celebration of “Land Day,” Khalid referred to the Public Relations head of Palestine House as “Brother Amin,” while he referred to her as his “dear friend” and promised: “we will work together for the next federal election in 2019.”

Conservative MP Rachael Harder was the first to raise the issue in the House, accusing Trudeau of sending Khalid, who represents Mississauga—Erin Mills, to “bring greetings on his behalf at an event organized by the anti-Israel Palestine House.”

The Conservative Stephen Harper government defunded Palestine House for “its pattern of extremism.” Last July, at a rally in Mississauga, “hundreds of people chanted in Arabic, ‘Remember Khaybar, oh you Jews, the Army of Muhammad will return!,’ in reference to an ancient battle in which a Muslim army defeated and slaughtered Jews in the Arabian Peninsula. On Nov. 4, the same protesters, led by Palestine House Public Relations Chief Amin El-Maoued, returned to Celebration Square to call for the destruction of Israel. With young children in attendance, protesters chanted, ‘Oh youth, join him, join him – the martyr has sacrificed his blood!’ In the context of the Israeli-Arab conflict, ‘martyr’ is often used as a euphemism for terrorist or suicide bomber.”
In January 2016, Khalid received a red carpet welcome from board members of the Palestine House in Mississauga, and a “large number of members of the Palestinian  community,” including Palestinian political activists. Khalid is also a former president of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Muslim Student Association (MSA) at York University. MSA’s are “essentially an arm of the Saudi-funded, Muslim Brotherhood-controlled Muslim World League.” The Muslim Student Associations are also well known for their aggressive Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions drives on campuses to demonize and delegitimize the State of Israel, and for their intimidation of Jewish students.
Khalid’s attempts to distance herself from these unsavoury Islamic supremacists and jihadists followed an open challenge to her in Parliament. “Conservative MPs piled on her during question period for introducing Palestinian Archbishop Atallah Hanna” and “for giving an award to Amin El-Maoued… on behalf of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.”

Conservative ethics critic Peter Kent confirmed MPs were referring to Khalid’s introduction of Hanna and to the award given to El-Maoued.

Khalid has already caused enough discord as a holder of public office. She introduced the anti-Islamophobia M-103. Backing Khalid were muscular Muslim Brotherhood lobbies. Canada’s first anti-Islamophobia motion, which passed in October, and the second, M-103, were built on petition e-411 by Samer Majzoub, who managed a Muslim Brotherhood-linked Montreal high school, and is a leader of the self-described Muslim Brotherhood-linked Muslim Association of Canada (MAC). Majzoub even accused Conservative MPs of “stoking a wave of anti-Muslim sentiment” in opposing M-103.

So while Khalid relentlessly pursued her “Islamophobia” agenda at any cost and flatly rejected the alternate phrase of “anti-Muslim bigotry,” which would have made it clear that M-103 was not meant to target all criticism of Islam, she has been closely aligned with jihadists who seek the destruction of the State of Israel.

“Like any MP, I engage with a diverse array of individuals, stakeholders and groups in my community-many of them I don’t agree with. I recently attended a community event with more than 500 community members and introduced a constituent of mine,” Khalid tweeted Tuesday.
“We’ve never discussed his views on international affairs. I’m proud that our gov’t has forcefully condemned the Assad regime and I too condemn in the strongest of terms the recent chemical attacks. I’ve worked hard on these issues in my subcommittee on international human rights,” she added on Twitter, without naming the individual in question.
Khalid’s tweets come after Conservative MPs piled on her during question period for introducing Palestinian Archbishop Atallah Hanna at an event in Mississauga, and for giving an award to Amin El-Maoued, the head of public relations at the Palestine House, on behalf of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

A blog post noted Khalid had made the introduction and shared a photo of the two of them. The site links to Hanna’s Facebook page where there are posts praising Assad. The information on the website and Facebook page has not been independently verified by iPolitics.
