'Obama Doesn't Want to Hurt Any Terrorists': Peters Slams Overnight Strikes Against ISIS

UPDATE, 9:30a ET: Fox News strategic analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters says the U.S. strikes against ISIS seem to be designed to avoid actually killing any terrorists.
Peters argued that if the United States wanted to truly degrade ISIS, bombs would be hitting at "10 or 11 in the morning" not in the middle of the night.
He said there was no threat from Syria's air defenses that would have justified an overnight attack.

"You could have gone in there safely in a hang glider," said Peters.
Bill Hemmer asked whether the reason could be that there is cooperation between Damascus and the Obama administration, and there was an agreement to launch strikes at that time.
Peters rejected that argument, saying we let the Syrian government know the strikes were going to happen, but "they don't get a vote" on when or where they occur.

"We went in the middle of the night because that way the buildings were empty and President Obama didn't want to hurt any terrorists. ... Rearranging the furniture with a cruise missile doesn't deter people who believe they're on a mission from God to kill everything in sight," he argued.
Peters added that it's symbolically important to have Sunni Arab allies supporting the operation, but so far they're only carrying out "token missions."

On “Hannity,” Lt. Col. Ralph Peters questioned the seriousness of last night’s airstrikes against terrorists in Syria.
“These strikes last night were designed to limit terrorist casualties. These were not serious, manful strikes," Peters said.
He questioned: why did we go in at night?

“If you wanted to kill terrorists, you would have hit those headquarters and compounds and logistics sites at 10 or 11 in the morning, when they were crowded with leaders, staff officers, flunkeys, etc. Instead, we hit empty buildings at night. We knocked down antennas; we blew out windows. That is not the way to defeat terrorists who behead Americans.”
Peters said the measure of tactical success in airstrikes “is not knocking out windows; it is acres and acres of dead terrorists.”
He also blasted President Barack Obama, saying that “he wants to wage war by measuring it out in teaspoons.”
