- While
US policy-makers are trying desperately to stabilize Afghanistan,
a shift is being orchestrated by China.
- The
Chinese evidently see their role in Afghanistan as the "good
cop" versus the U.S. role as "bad cop." Like
Pakistan, China seems to view the Taliban as the political
opposition, not as a terrorist organization, and has offered
itself as an intermediary to negotiate the departure of the U.S.
and, thereby, be in a position to reap the economic and
geopolitical benefits of Afghanistan as a client state of the
China-Pakistan alliance.
- Control
of Afghanistan will allow China to complete transportation
corridors, power grids and oil and gas pipelines throughout
Central and South Asia. China can then begin to exploit
Afghanistan's estimated $3 trillion in untapped mineral resources,
in addition to Balochistan's $1 trillion in gold, copper, oil,
precious stones, coal, chromite and natural gas.

On April 22, an ISIS terrorist at a voter-registration
office in Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul blew himself up, killing
at least 60 innocent people and wounding an additional 100. The
following day, the United States condemned the suicide bombing, while
repeating America's policy of counterinsurgency and nation-building in
Afghanistan.
"This attack on this polling station reaffirms our
commitment to our Afghan partners and reaffirms on why we have to focus
on rooting out violent extremism," Pentagon spokesman US Army Col.
Robert Manning said. "When citizens can't go and register and
exercise their democratic right to vote, that's a problem. They certainly
deserve it, and that's why we are going to stay there to make sure we
can work with our Afghan partners to afford them that right."

- Gatestone
Institute, far from being "anti-Muslim", is pro-Muslim.
Gatestone does not want to see Muslims deprived of freedom of
speech, flogged or stoned to death for supposed adultery.
Gatestone is also opposed to "honor" killings, children
forced into marriages; homosexuals flogged or killed, and so on.
Is one to assume that NBC and its followers do want to see these
abuses? Good to know.
- Gatestone
is, however, openly committed to educating the public about an
aspect of Islam, namely Sharia law, which, according to the
European Court of Human Rights and others, is incompatible with
liberal democracy.
- NBC
states that Russian trolls tweeted a total of four Gatestone
articles — out of more than 200,000 tweets identified by Twitter
as being linked to Russian accounts. By way of comparison, the
database shows that Russian trolls tweeted seven articles
from Heidi Przybyla, the author of the NBC report.
- A
search of articles on Sputnik, the Russian government-controlled
news agency, turns up 1,650 pages of NBC citations. "If
getting retweeted 4 times makes you a Russian spy, NBC must be the
Kremlin." -- Daniel Greenfield, journalist
- The
crimes are being played down by German authorities, apparently to
avoid fueling anti-immigration sentiments. The director of the
Criminal Police Association (Bund Deutscher Kriminalbeamter,
BDK), André Schulz, estimates that up to 90% of the sex crimes
committed in Germany do not appear in the official statistics.
- NBC's
claims are based on truths, half-truths and untruths all woven
together and framed in way not only to misrepresent Gatestone's
work, but also to destroy its reputation and that of others.
On February 26, German Chancellor
Angela Merkel publicly admitted, for the first time, the existence of
no-go zones — lawless areas in German cities where the state has
effectively lost control to migrant gangs and where native Germans,
including the police, increasingly fear to go. (Photo by Sean

In what has been described as a desperate attempt
"to keep the failing Russiagate conspiracy theory alive," NBC
News has published a false and defamatory report about Gatestone
Institute. The article, originally published on April 23, 2018, has
since been has been altered online several times.
The original report libels Gatestone Institute as an
"anti-Muslim think tank" that is "part of an echo
chamber that includes Russian media." It is the NBC report,
however, that seems to be part of an "echo chamber" to damage
and delegitimize the current, duly elected, administration — and anyone
ever associated with it — while using Gatestone Institute as a tool do
that.

McCarthyism, according to
Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is a "political attitude characterized
chiefly by opposition to elements held to be subversive and by the use
of tactics involving personal attacks on individuals by means of widely
publicized indiscriminate allegations especially on the basis of
unsubstantiated charges; broadly: defamation of character."

When I was growing up, organizations that expressed any
views at all similar to those expressed by Communist groups were called
"Communist fronts". Anyone who defended on the grounds of
civil liberties the right of communists to express their hateful
ideology was labeled a "commie-symp."
All decent people railed against this coerced,
"politically correct" guilt-by-association, because it
endangered freedom of speech, freedom of association, basic fairness
and especially truth.
