Last week, an Ottawa
mosque lost it's charitable status because of hate speech coming out of
the mosque. This mosque regularly hosted hate preaching Imams,
including a Toronto Imam Dr.
Bilal Philips, who has been recorded as voicing, among other concerning
rhetoric, derogatory comments on Jews and homosexuals.
Ottawa Islamic Centre and Assalam Mosque was also home to an
individual that is now incarcerated for wanting to join the terrorist
group ISIS. This mosque has also had friendly visits by government
officials, which is highly concerning considering their track record.
Similar situations
exist in Toronto mosques and other mosques across Canada. Imams have
been recorded as advocating for the death of non Muslims. Iman
Ayman Elkasrawy of Toronto Masjid, 168 Dundas St. West,
Toronto, was under fire for praying for the death of the Jews.
Following is his quote:
“O Allah! Count their
number; slay them one by one and spare not one of them,” read the
article’s translation of his prayers. “O Allah! Purify Al-Aqsa mosque
from the filth of the Jews!”
Another Imam in
Toronto was also recorded as calling for the slaying of non Muslims.
Following is an excerpt of his invocation:
"O Allah!
Annihilate [destroy] them as you annihilated [destroyed] Aad and Thamud
[ancient peoples annihilated by Allah because they didn’t heed the
warnings of the prophets].
O Allah! Count their
number, slay [kill] them one by one and make them a lesson to their
likenesses
O Allah! We will let
you in their throats and we seek refuge in you from their evils"

What is interesting
is when Iman Ayman Elkasrawy was confronted, he denied
knowledge of what his prayer actually meant. The Toronto Star wrote a
long detailed article in his defense. This article was full of
misinformation and downright lies. What is also interesting is that the
Toronto Star has not given one report on the Ottawa mosque losing it's
charitable status because of hate speech.
Diane Weber Bederman
has compiled a series of articles concerning the duplicity of Toronto
Star's reporting. Here is a link to her blog where you can find these
articles: https://dianebederman.com/
Should mosques that
encourage/perpetuate/host hate speech and Imams be put under
microscopic scrutiny? Should it go further than losing charitable
status? Should they be closed?
