Patriotic Americans Must Unite to Defend Our Country’s
Foundational Principles
This nation cannot stand if we’re
divided.
I’m not one to embrace the cliché
notion that all Americans need to come together when radical leftist
Americans are determined to destroy the fabric of this great nation.
But the good news is that radical
leftists are not nearly the majority of this country.
With that in mind, it is well
past time for all patriotic Americans, regardless of political party, to
come together in defense of the very foundational principles of our
society — principles like freedom of speech, due process, and common
decency.
We were never more united than we
were in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. Flags flew on every corner, and
strangers from all walks of life came together to defend what truly
mattered. But these days, the far Left paints flag-flying Americans as
fascists and views political disagreement as a justification to slander
and destroy someone’s life, regardless of truth or facts.
This is truly the test of our
time.
How can America keep itself from
enemies abroad when we are fighting sabotage from within? The recent
attacks on now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation process
illustrate perfectly how the radical Left plans to divide and conquer
moving forward. If you thought there were any limits to their slander,
the recent hit job on a well-respected federal judge should’ve shocked
some sense into you.
It’s safe to say our current
state of political chaos calls for unity among those who still believe in
our foundational American principles.
But after the confirmation
of Justice Kavanaugh, the radical Left will find a new target to
slander and a new enemy to silence. CNN’s Don Lemon
recently hosted a typical panel of like-minded radicals to
bully and berate Kanye West for his support of President Donald Trump.
One CNN panelist proclaimed,
“Kanye West is what happens when Negroes don’t read.” Classy.
Another chimed in and called West
a “token Negro” and an “attention whore.”
Funny: We didn’t hear such
vile rebukes from CNN when Kanye West said then-President
George W. Bush “doesn’t care about black people.”
So what changed? Support for the
current president. For that, the radical Left will put a target on your
back and declare your reputation “Wanted: dead or alive.”
The big takeaway for everyday
Americans from this leftist tarring and feathering of political opponents
is that unity among those of us who still cherish American principles and
values is more necessary than ever.
The late Charles
Krauthammer wrote a book titled “Things That Matter.” He noted the
necessity of prioritizing the most precious elements of life amid
political distractions.
It’s safe to say our current
state of political chaos calls for unity among those who still believe in
our foundational American principles.
These principles allow
individuals to speak their mind, for as George Washington
noted, “If the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we
may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”
Principles that demand evidence
must accompany accusations in order for a verdict to be reached, whether
in the public or private eye — principles that reject ruining someone’s
life simply because it’s politically convenient to do so.
Given that the modern Left
rejects these principles, it’s time for the Right to unite with the
center on things that matter.
Most Americans are not inherently
political. They don’t have time to sit around and watch politics all day;
they have families to care for, jobs to do, school to attend, homes to
maintain. If Conservatives want to continue winning elections the way
President Trump did in 2016 — despite all the naysayers — they must
embrace his same ability to simplify and prioritize the most pressing
issues.
Most Americans believe in free
speech. Leftists don’t.
Most Americans believe in
innocent until proven guilty.
Leftists don’t.
Most Americans believe in
borders. Leftists don’t.
Most Americans would not destroy
a man’s life for political gain. Leftists did.
The real beauty of the American
ideal is that government should exist to protect freedom. It should focus
on national security, the rule of law, and the protection of our
inalienable rights.
To modern Leftists, the
government exists for seemingly every purpose other than those
fundamental purposes.
Centrists and conservatives don’t
have to agree on every single policy to take a stand against the
tyrannical Left, just the things that truly matter — things that allow us
to continue living in the greatest country in the history of the world
and enjoying the most important things in life, like family and freedom.
It’s why I wrote “Rise:
In Defense of Judeo-Christian Values and Freedom,” for precisely this cause — that freedom and
security are not political issues. They are human issues.
With this in mind, common-sense
Americans must unite against those who seek to destroy our foundational
principles and replace them with a lawless, borderless, totalitarian
state, in which truth is irrelevant and dissent is forbidden.
