The Kurdish Peshmerga forces in Syrian Kurdistan have shelled an Islamic State (IS) leadership base in the area.
A security source in Syrian Kurdistan
told BasNews that Peshmerga on the western front of Kobani city
bombarded the base, north of Jarablus.
The source explained that the operation
took after intelligence reports suggested that high ranking IS leaders
were meeting in the base.
BasNews understands that several IS
leaders were killed, although the identity and number of casualties is
not yet known, as IS militants have banned movements in the area.
Peshmerga forces have been in Syrian
Kurdistan since October last year supporting the Kurdish fighters of the
People’s Protection Unit (YPG) against the Islamic State militants in
Kobani and other Kurdish area in Syrian Kurdistan.
