The ‘Poor’ Terrorists in Obama’s Fairytale ‘Movie’

If ISIS were a movie, it would have to be rated NC-17 of course. Yet the Obama Administration hopes to recreate the story to fit into a Disney “G” rating, a fairytale.

The masses have turned into some sort of zombies addicted to Hollywood, and after Rocky whetted our appetite to see the underdog succeed, movies have continued to feed us impassioned stories of desperation with conflict, leading up to a miraculous triumph in the end. The media has also played into this, as does Obama and his State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf who tells us Islamic terrorists are poverty-stricken jobless victims- underdogs who need to triumph in the end. (Though Obama’s own supposed record of improving the unemployment rate in the US to a mere 5.6% turns out to be “a big lie” as Gallup Chairman and CEO Jim Clifton writes.)

But of course “jobs” will solve everything because terrorists are poor victims who deserve our compassion as they behead another row of Christians at the beach (or in a studio, wherever that actually took place), rape more women, children and even men, and simply take away the rights of anyone living under their control, reverting back to the 7th Century.

“If only I had a job, I wouldn’t shoot!”

The movie version is nicer. In the US (and in Europe as well now), the real-life underdog is the immigrant. Poor, desperate, unable to provide for his family under the conditions of a corrupt government, hopeless economy, lack of opportunities and in certain cases, even under attack due to war.

This is what they tell us, at least. In some cases it’s true.

In Mexico for example, the government has had a reputation of corruption for years. Bribes are common, many of the police forces in small towns are criminals themselves or are paid by drug cartels, and many who apply for visas are denied despite meeting all of the requirements. The situation has become so dire in Southern Mexico, that the townsfolk have created their own vigilante police force to protect their towns against the drug cartels and gangs who have been kidnapping people for ransom, then collecting the money but killing the victims anyway.

Still, as terrible as that is, illegal Mexican immigrants cannot be allowed to come over without permission, and our government needs to keep our borders safe. Border Patrol has found numerous drug smuggling tunnels and seize millions of dollars of drugs from smugglers each month. Qur’ans have also been found along border trails, and protecting the border is not just about keeping out the drugs or illegal Mexican aliens but terrorists too.

If only the “better life” Hollywood story were as true as it is touching.

Oh sure, there are many such stories, not only among the Mexican immigrants but all throughout the history of the United States. My own family, for example, sought a better life and came to America to escape the pogroms and anti-Semitism in general (and yes, they did continue to face anti-Semitism in America, but it was still a better life).

It makes for a great movie, as Obama well knows. But a feel-good Hollywood story cannot explain away the violence of ISIS and other Muslim terror groups. These terrorists are not underdog immigrants or some movie character like Rocky who’s down on his luck, and they are not the European or Jewish immigrants that our ancestors were, also sometimes depicted in movies. There is no comparison.

If Marie Harf and the entire Administration want to make the terrorists relatable, they must understand that taking out the NC-17 content to change the “movie” to a G-rating and rewriting the script to become a fairytale, really doesn’t fly when the public is also seeing these same underdogs beheading innocent Christians on a beach. Or American, British or Japanese journalists.

People don’t really get excited about “poor terrorists” killing cartoonists, Jewish shoppers and worshippers, or Danish, French, British, Canadian, American, (etc.) natives. What’s more, these terrorists are not poor or uneducated. To victimize Muslim terrorists by equating them to the unemployed or the poor, disenfranchised, like cute little puppies who need love and attention, is taking the standard democratic compassion too far. Who would buy that?

This is not a movie. It’s real life, and the fairytales of Obama are too much, even for Hollywood.
