Update—The Doctrine of Abrogation: Open the Koran Day

As me move closer to the launch of the first ever “Open the Koran Day” we will gradually unveil the details for those of you who will be participating.

First, we’re pleased to report that hundreds of you have responded with monthly and single gift contributions toward underwriting the project. Many thanks!

If you would like to help support this project you can make monthly Patriot Partner or single gift contributions online here.

Or, if you prefer, you can print out a reply form here and mail it in with your check.

Here are some updates.

First, to give the day a strong focus, we have co-branded the day: The Doctrine of Abrogation: Open the Koran Day. Our goal is to educate the general public about a little known yet important doctrine called “abrogation.”

If you are not familiar with abrogation, it is central to the jurisprudential study of the Koran by Islamic scholars and is the doctrine believed and taught by Major Nidal Hasan, the infamous Fort Hood shooter.

In a presentation that has now been published in its entirety, Major Hasan walked a room full of commissioned military officers through the doctrine of abrogation and how it led him to believe that the peaceful verses of the Koran no longer apply, only the violent ones.

U.S. Rep. Allen West recently responded to a man at a town hall meeting by referring to the doctrine of abrogation. You can view that 2:20 video here.

As noted above, Rep. West will be the keynote speaker at this year’s national conference gala banquet. To find out more or to register please click here.

We at Act for America feel so strongly that our military, first responders, elected officials and general public need to understand the doctrine of abrogation and what it means for the threat jihad poses to America, that we are making it the entire focus of our previously announced Open the Koran Day.

Thus, we are moving the launch of The Doctrine of Abrogation: Open the Koran Day to Oct 29–30, 2011, in order to be closer to the two year anniversary of Major Hasan’s jihadist attack at Fort Hood. We want the news media to focus on the doctrine of abrogation through the eyes of a man who believed it and acted on it.

To help facilitate this focused attention, we are commissioning a special video to be distributed exclusively to ACT! for America chapters and members who participate in this event. The video will focus on Major Hasan, his actions, the warning signs that were ignored, and most importantly, his personal belief in the doctrine of abrogation and what that meant for how he read the Koran.

For this reason we will be asking all participating hosts to locate their events inside a controlled environment, conducive to watching this highly instructive video and using it as a springboard of conversation for the duration of the meeting.

Coming soon we will give you the opportunity to sign up to host one of the Doctrine of Abrogation: Open the Koran Day events in your community. In the meantime, if you can help us fund the production and logistical costs of this historic nationwide event, please visit our donation page today!
