Dayton Gunman Reportedly Had Hit Lists, Fascination with Shootings: 'Everyone Knew Who He Was'

As investigators attempt to piece together why a 24-year-old man opened fire outside a popular Dayton bar, people from his past point to hit lists, violent threats and a fascination with shootings that they now say were clearly red flags. Connor Betts, who was clad in body armor and was carrying ammunition magazines, killed his sister and eight others, with dozens more injured in the rampage early Sunday before he was fatally shot by officers.

Prosecutors in El Paso, Texas, will seek the death penalty for the man suspected of killing 20 people and injuring more than two dozen others. U.S. Attorney John Bash said they will pursue a criminal investigation, a civil rights hate crime investigation and "domestic terrorism" charges against the suspect, who was identified as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius.

[NDIL] Omer Kuzu, a 23-year-old U.S. citizen born in Dallas, Texas, was indicted for traveling to Syria and conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS). Kuzu was detained overseas by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), transferred to FBI custody and returned to Texas. Kuzu and his brother allegedly traveled from Houston, Texas, to Istanbul, Turkey, in October 2014 to join ISIS. Kuzu confessed to agents that he and his brother were smuggled into Syria by ISIS.

Shin Bet Foils Hamas Terror Plot Against Israel and Palestinians

Israel's Shin Bet internal security agency thwarted a major Hamas terror attack in Jerusalem after an explosive charge ready for use and laboratory were uncovered in Hebron. The cell which had been planning the attack before it was broken up following a joint Shin Bet, IDF and Israel police investigation, was operating under the direction of Hamas's military wing in the Gaza Strip to carry out attacks against Israeli and Palestinian Authority targets. Cell members were instructed to establish teams to carrying out kidnapping, shooting and stabbing attacks, to purchase weapons and to recruit others to carry out terrorist attacks, the Shin Bet said.

Ceremony of Hezbollah Operatives in Southern Lebanon with Conspicuous Personality Cult of Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei

Hezbollah held the opening ceremony of its Executive Council's summer activity, according to an Aug. 6 report by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC). The ceremony, entitled "Our Generations are the Message of Victory," took place in the hussainiya (a Shiite social/religious club of sorts) of the city of Nabatieh. It was also attended by the chairman of Hezbollah's Executive Council, Sayyid Hashem Safi al-din. Hezbollah operatives from the military wing and political institutions took part in the ceremony, as well as Shiite clerics. The venue was decorated with posters honoring Hezbollah's shahids, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei.

Car Bomb Explosion in Cairo Kills at Least 20 People

A powerful car-bomb explosion outside a hospital in Egypt's capital killed at least 20 people and injured dozens more in the deadliest terrorist attack in Cairo in more than two years. Egypt's Interior Ministry said the blast occurred late Sunday after an explosive-laden car driving the wrong way slammed into three others on Cairo's Nile Corniche, sparking a chaotic scene of fire and metal as rescuers rushed in, according to footage of the aftermath. Another 47 people were injured, the ministry said.
