Issue 12 02.10.10 February 11, 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of the Iranian revolution. This week, around the world all eyes are on Iran. Iran is expected to make an announcement that "will provide a big blow to the West." We must examine not only what they say but what they have done in the past 30 years in order to understand the underlying basis of the threat we face. We will work to educate you more about this threat in upcoming newsletters. Imagine an Enriched Iran Iran has announced plans to enrich its uranium stockpile from 3.5% to 20%. However, the low enriched uranium is more than sufficient for a civilian power plant. While higher enriched uranium can be used in medical reactors – the stated purpose of the Iranian regime – there are serious concerns that the actual goal in higher enrichment is to make weapons of mass destruction. There are a number of very worrisome issues with Iran’s nuclear program.
