An Email From an Officer in Afghanistan by Brigitte Gabriel This past Tuesday I received the email below from one of our own serving in the Armed Forces. It so moved me I decided to share it with you. (I have deleted certain information to protect his identity.) Thank you for this awesome and inspiring email. I am serving our nation in Afghanistan. My wife, [name], met you at the conference in [city and state]. She told me how incredibly impressed she was with the conference, the people in attendance, and especially you. And thank you soooo much for the autographed book! As we serve in our nation's military giving what we can to keep our nation safe, you and your (our) incredible organization serve equally as well (maybe better) at defending the homefront -- on the homefront. This is truly a team effort and without ACT! for America, Heaven only knows where this great nation of ours could go. Please, keep up the good work and keep my family and I informed of how we can best serve you, your organization and our country as we defend it from such oppression. God Bless! [Name], [rank], USN This young man did us the incredible honor of telling us that we were an encouragement to him. How I would love to shake his hand and tell him what an encouragement he is to us! This is what I meant yesterday when I wrote you about each of us taking stock of what we can do and choosing to take the action(s) we can. We are not all called to the same service — but in order to prevent the triumph of evil, each of us who understands the threat must act as we are able. The news this week from New York City, about a Denver-based terrorist cell with links to al Qaeda, is a chilling reminder of how close we are to another 9/11 attack. But as radical Islam permeates more and more of our society, the number of terrorist threats will increase, just as has been the case in Great Britain. Thus, a crucial element of our national effort to stop Islamic terrorism must include the grassroots, organized action that is the heartbeat of ACT! for America. When we take action, we encourage others to take action. We create the kind of “human momentum” that not only changes events, but can literally change the course of history. For instance, this kind of “human momentum” freed America from the Jim Crow days of forced segregation. It freed Russia and Eastern Europe from the iron grip of Communism. This kind of “human momentum” is necessary to prevent what Edmund Burke said would be the “triumph of evil” that occurs when “good men do nothing.” But just as human momentum can lead to great triumphs over evil, human inaction inevitably leads to the triumph of evil. The tens of millions who died in the Nazi concentration camps, at the point of a Japanese bayonet in Southeast Asia, and under the brutal tyranny of Mao Zedong in China are a gruesome and chilling testimony to what happens when evil is allowed to triumph. When Guy Rodgers and I speak to groups around the country, and we describe the seriousness of the threat, our plans for combating it, and our victories thus far, people rise to their feet, clapping and even cheering. You should see how encouraged they are! (If you’ve been to one of these events you know what I’m talking about!) They catch the vision in a way that is difficult to communicate via email. They grasp the urgency and they take action. They have hope! As a result, at public events this year we’ve had dozens of people sign up to be chapter leaders and hundreds more become Patriot Partners. How I wish I could be talking to you in person right now! But that’s just not possible. So I’m hoping against hope that you will grasp my sense of urgency in the letters I’ve written you this week. Why it’s so important that we make plans now to reach millions of Americans next year through a 30 minute ACT! for America “infomercial” aired on cable networks throughout the country. But what’s more, I’m hoping that you’ll be stirred to take action — because you know, in your heart of hearts, that the threat of radical Islam is so dangerous that our failure to act will doom our nation to the fate Great Britain, France, Germany, and other Western nations now face. I appeal to you to do what you are able to do. We are driven by the same force of urgency, patriotism and love for our friends and families that drove the colonial patriots to endure the hardships they endured to win independence for their nation and freedom for their families. The Pew Research poll I shared with you a few days ago has only served to deepen our resolve. Americans are slowly succumbing to the lies about the history, doctrines and intent of radical Islam.
