At least six people were shot dead.
Speaking in Deir ez-Zor, civil rights activist Mujahid ash-Shami said that ISIS insurgents shot dead more than six people, who were trying to deliver food to the besieged neighborhoods of Deir ez-Zor.
“The activists were carrying food supplies in an attempt to reach western neighborhoods via the Euphrates River from Mahimidiyah village,” Shami said.
“Among the victims were relief activists Kamila and Ayed Mahamid, who died under the fire of ISIS terrorists,” the source added. “The (ISIS) terrorist group prevents access to the populated neighborhoods in western Deir ez-Zor, where hundreds of civilians are starving under siege.”
Ash-Shami added that the situation in the ISIS-besieged neighborhoods deteriorated dramatically in the last few months, during which several children have died of hunger.
Militants of ISIS have been imposing blockade on the regime-held districts of Jura and Qusour for months, preventing the entry of relief materials, medicine and fuel to these areas.
