UANI was last night featured on NBC 4 News. UANI cyclists are pulling billboards around the Warwick New York Hotel, and near the United Nations, today and Thursday. Two cyclists are riding continuously near 54th St. and 6th Ave., and one cyclist near 1st and 3rd Aves., between 50th and 42nd Sts. They are wearing UANI shirts and pulling billboards that read "AS WE REMEMBER 9/11 TEN YEARS LATER, AL QAEDA'S SILENT PARTNER IS COMING TO NEW YORK: TAKE ACTION AT UANI.COM." UANI is also passing out cards on the sidewalk near 54th St. and 6th Ave., which read "AS WE REMEMBER 9/11 TEN YEARS LATER, AL QAEDA'S SILENT PARTNER COMES TO THE WARWICK HOTEL." UANI is today calling on Ahmadinejad to receive a UANI petition, signed by thousands of Americans, that denounces the Iranian regime's illegal nuclear weapons program, support for terrorism, and systematic human rights violations. UANI will attempt to deliver the petition to Ahmadinejad. Said UANI Executive Director, David Ibsen: The Warwick Hotel made a completely irresponsible decision to host Ahmadinejad, and the people of New York are angry about it. American tax dollars should not be going to protect a person who is allied with al-Qaeda, brutalizes his own people, and accused the U.S. of orchestrating 9/11. UANI calls on Ahmadinejad to receive our petition here at the Warwick and see what the American people think of him and his regime. The bicycle billboards, like similar ones in Times Square and Midtown, highlight Iran's partnership with al-Qaeda, which the U.S. Treasury Department detailed earlier this year. According to Treasury, Iran is allied with al-Qaeda, and is allowing al-Qaeda to use Iran as a place to transfer money, weapons, and fighters to bases in Pakistan and Afghanistan. This evidence follows recent reports that al-Qaeda operatives such as Saif al-Adel, the organization's chief military strategist, have been operating out of Iran with impunity. UANI is calling on its supporters to contact the Warwick New York Hotel concerning its decision to host Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
