Victory for TIGERS!!!

Congratulations!

Mattel, the company behind Barbie, has announced that it will stop buying paper and packaging linked to rainforest destruction!

As part of its new commitment, Mattel will no longer source products from companies linked to deforestation. This includes Asia Pulp and Paper (APP), the company responsible for widespread destruction in the Indonesian rainforest, home to the endangered Sumatran Tiger.

Mattel's policy also aims to increase the amount of recycled paper used in their business, as well as to boost the use of wood products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). For more on Mattel's announcement, visit:

Mattel's new policy shows leadership and means real change on the ground. The company has done right by the Sumatran Tiger, so take a moment to congratulate Mattel yourself here:

This is a tremendous result for the Sumatran Tiger. whose number in the wild has dipped perilously low to around 400.

But it is also an incredible victory for our supporters. When we exposed the toy industry's deforestation habits last June, your voice generated mass media coverage around the world and blew up on social media networks. Supporters like you sent more than 500,000 emails to Mattel, and more than 2 million people watched our campaign videos.

We could not have done this without you.

And while today should be celebrated, the campaign to prevent Asia Pulp and Paper from pulping the tiger habitat and tropical rainforest of Indonesia continues. Greenpeace are in this for the long haul, and we continue to rely on your support and participation.

Thank you for making all this possible,

Shane Moffatt
