Austrian Steel Conglomerate Responds to UANI Via Twitter, But Remains Silent About Current Iran Business    New York, NY - Today, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) posed a series of simple questions to Austrian steel conglomerate Voestalpine AG following Voestalpine's Twitter response to UANI.  Said UANI on its Twitter account, @UANI: Has @voestalpine ceased its Iran business activities? Has @voestalpine subsidiary Böhler Edelstahl ceased its Iran business activities? Has @voestalpine subsidiary Böhler PROFIL ceased its Iran business activities? Has @voestalpine subsidiary Uddeholm ceased its Iran business activities? Has @voestalpine subsidiary Associated Swedish Steels AB (ASSAB) ceased its Iran business activities? Has @voestalpine subsidiary Buderus Edelstahl ceased its Iran business activities? Has @voestalpine subsidiary Böhler Welding ceased its Iran business activities? Last week, UANI called on Voestalpine to go beyond merely stating that it does not violate sanctions, and disclose, clarify, and swear off business in Iran. Today, Voestalpine posted on its Twitter account (@voestalpine): "@UANI voestalpine strictly follows any laws, treaties and sanctions regarding Iran." Regarding UANI's concerns that Voestalpine this month deleted references to Iran on some of its webpages and entirely removed other relevant webpages, Voestalpine posted: "@UANI The motivation for changes on some websites was, that the information regarding business relationships into Iran were not up-to-date." Given that these responses do not address the basic question of whether Voestalpine and its subsidiaries do business in Iran, UANI is asking Voestalpine to clarify whether it and its subsidiaries are or are not still active in Iran.
