More on that “Wonderful” Iran Deal Pres. Obama Made w/Khameini…

As we predicted in last month’s “Russia Providing Lethal Aid to Syria, Iran and Establishment of Intel Centers in Iraq,” the Iranian regime launched another round of ballistic missile testing. Oh, and as we also predicted, it was done as a demonstration to the Obama administration (and the rest of the free world) that UNSCR 2231 (which addresses the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or “JPOA”) will not deter the regime’s pursuit of obtaining a nuclear strike capability. Here’s a lovely nugget from the regime’s own mouth courtesy of CNN:
The Emad (Pillar) surface-to-surface missile, designed and built by Iranian experts, is the country’s first long-range missile that can be precision-guided until it reaches its target, said Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqan, Iran’s defense minister.
“To follow our defense programs, we don’t ask permission from anyone,” he said, according to state-run news agency IRNA.
The new rocket is “capable of scrutinizing the targets and destroying them completely,” IRNA reported.
The Emad would be Tehran’s first precision-guided missile with the range to reach its enemy, Israel.

What makes the Emad so much worse than its predecessor the Shahab-3 is that it has a maneuvering reentry vehicle that improves system accuracy, making it harder to defend against. The missile has a range of 1,700km (1,056 miles) and is accurate within 500m (or 1,640ft) of a target. The Emad can also carry a 1,653 lbs payload and is scheduled for deployment sometime next year. Now the Shahab-3 is based on the DPRK’s Nodong missile, which isn’t surprising to our readers in the least (check out last year’s “How The North Korean Regime Affects The Middle East” and 01 APR 15’s “The Persian Hustle: Iran Dupes Clueless US State Dept in Nuke Talks and Moves to Dominate the Middle East” for more details on the joint-DPRK/Iran programs). In fact, Iran’s missile launch is directly linked to Kim Jong Un’s recent showcasing of their new KN-08 intercontinental ballistic missile. We assess they will be doing a test launch of the KN-08 in the near-future; both the DPRK and IRGC missile engineers will be sharing their notes. What’s sad is how the Obama administration can’t quite seem to be capable of “connecting the dots.” The Center for Strategic and International Studies’ (CSIS) Anthony Cordesman came out with a disturbing paper on the Iranian regime’s rocket and missile forces last year that provides even more reasons why Iran never had any intention of honoring any “deal” made with the Obama administration. We find the Russian sales of advanced weaponry to upgrade Iran’s air defense network as hardly surprising (reference “Russia Providing Lethal Aid to Syria, Iran and Establishment of Intel Centers in Iraq“).
