 Thank you for calling the Kent, Washington School District
yesterday and voicing your concern with their giving special privileges
to one group, while neglecting the preferences of another regarding their
food policy!
Due to the efforts of ACT for America and our
members, we flooded their phone lines with hundreds of calls from our
powerful grassroots army of passionate, patriotic members. The school
district released a memo on their website addressing these calls here.
They are back-pedaling. We cannot stop now.

here, the Kent School District has changed their food options on the
menu and removed all pork products, in order to accommodate Muslim
dietary needs.
The school was forced to act in some way due to the number of phone calls
from our members. They responded by informing callers this story had no
merit and also called Dave Brabo to ask to meet with him to discuss this.
According to Mr. Brabo, school officials were livid as they told him that
he "threw them under the bus" and are now trying to intimidate
him.

Mr. Brabo, a frustrated parent from Renton, Washington was recently told
by the school district that if the school system doesn’t “accommodate the
Muslim dietary needs that their federal and state funding would be cut or
pulled.”
Mr. Brabo responded by saying, “I want KOSHER food added and labeled,
Christian "food" offered during Lent, and even Hindi food
offered.” According to Mr. Brabo, Tom Ogg, Director of Nutritional
Services laughed and said, "No". He even cited a case of a
school district in New York that had parents protest the labeling of
"non-pork" products and offering acceptable Islamic food. The
school district had to back down.
What the Kent School District has done is unacceptable.
If there is enough backlash to this ridiculous new policy, the school
system will listen. But you must speak up!
We
strongly urge you to call the Kent, Washington School District and voice
your strong opposition to their new food policy. Express to them that
the food choices for all students should not be dictated by one
particular religion or group. You can
also choose to send an email if you prefer voicing your strong opposition
in that way.
This type of ridiculousness will continue to occur in school districts
all across this country unless we speak up now and do something about it.
The time to act is now!
We know you are busy, so we’ve done all of the work for you. All you have
to do is add your individual information and your voice will go directly
to the appropriate school officials.
Let them know that you do not agree with this decision and they should not
allow one group or religion to dictate the food choices for all students.
This is outrageous and completely unacceptable.
Yesterday proved that our calls are making a difference.
Thank you for all that you do. If each of us does just a little, together
we can accomplish a lot.
