PHILADELPHIA – Jan. 25, 2017 – The Middle East Forum is pleased to announce one promotion and introduce three new staff members:

Matthew Bennett has been promoted to the Director of Development and is now responsible for the Forum's fundraising and related activities. He most recently served as the Forum's director of special projects. He previously worked as an analyst for Intelsat General Corporation, started a management consulting company in Israel, and served as the Israel and community relations director for the Jewish Federation of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, New Jersey. Mr. Bennett attended American University and Ben-Gurion University.

Laura Frank is the Communications Director. She comes to the Forum after nearly five years at Ceisler Media and Issue Advocacy in Philadelphia, where she led a public affairs project with the Israeli Consulate to the Mid-Atlantic region. She has previously worked in government relations and political communications in Harrisburg, PA and Washington, DC. Ms. Frank graduated from Temple University.

LTC Phillip Prescott is the Jihad Intel Specialist responsible for educational outreach to law enforcement, the military, and other government agencies. His area of expertise is countering jihadi violence. Lieutenant Colonel Prescott, U.S. Army reserve retired, most recently served as a strategic intelligence analyst (FA 34) assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon. He has also worked in joint intelligence on the federal level with national security organizations such as the FBI. Mr. Prescott completed coursework at the Naval War College and holds a Masters in International Relations from Boston University.

Lara Szott is the Executive Assistant and serves as the primary point of contact for MEF's president and director. Prior to working at the Forum, she interned for multiple NGOs and served as an intern on Capitol Hill. She has studied U.S.-Arab relations and worked in Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Israel, and the West Bank. Ms. Szott holds a B.A. in International Politics and Global Security from Pennsylvania State University and an M.A. in International Journalism & Public Affairs from American University.

The Middle East Forum is dedicated to promoting American interests in the Middle East and protecting the West from Middle Eastern threats. It does so through intellectual, activist, and philanthropic efforts.
