Opinion
Mark Dubowitz and Ilan Berman in Politico: "While the House and Senate versions of IRPSA target the entire supply chain for gasoline, and the earlier law prohibits investment in Iranian natural gas and oil projects, neither addresses the supply of critical technology, services, support and specialized information required for these energy projects. This is a major oversight - and a missed opportunity." http://bit.ly/azfPSu
David Hoffman in Foreign Policy: "It is an enduring calculus of the atomic age: When nations seek to build a nuclear weapon, they also want to deliver it long distances and with great speed by a missile hurtling through the air. Compared to other means of delivery, such as via bombers or a battleship, the missile is the equivalent of a bullet: fast off the mark, deep penetration, and most terrifying to potential victims." http://bit.ly/9unVCL
Paulo Sotero in Foreign Policy: "Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva heads to Tehran this week, a sort of victory lap for what he hopes will be a monumental piece of foreign policy: bringing Iran's leadership to the nuclear negotiating table. Last week, Tehran agreed 'in principle' to Brazil and Turkey's offer to facilitate talks on an agreement proposed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) last October. Should that initiative succeed, it will surely be remembered as Lula's crowning achievement." http://bit.ly/chKexq
