Textbook errors: Does it really matter??

“Christians and Jews had full religious freedom. They built churches and synagogues…”

Contrary to the historically false claim that Christians and Jews conquered by Muslim armies had “full religious freedom,” one Muslim historian estimated that as many as 30,000 churches in the Middle East were destroyed by Muslim invaders during the first few centuries of jihad.

Does it matter that your children and grandchildren are taught such historical falsehoods? After all, most students don’t remember what they were taught in history classes, right?

It matters because the PATTERN of revisionism implants a faulty narrative in the minds of students, a narrative that portrays the history of Islam as one of peace, tolerance, and equality.

A narrative that is being pushed in colleges, universities, and the media, affecting public policies and impacting how we as a nation deal with the threat of terrorism.

A narrative that is enabling the advance of radical Islam and stealth jihad.

And a narrative that is demonstrably, provably wrong. A narrative that is an egregious rewrite of history.

Our blockbuster report and Executive Summary, “Education or Indoctrination? The Treatment of Islam in 6
th through 12th Grade American Textbooks,” is a must read for anyone concerned about what our young people are being taught.

If you haven’t yet taken a look at our blockbuster report, we urge you to do so today by clicking here.

George Santayana once wrote, “Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.”

Does it really matter that 6
th through 12th grade textbooks are riddled with historical errors and revisionism?

If we don’t want to repeat the mistakes of the past, the answer is “yes.”
