NCRI - A group of 75 political prisoners are suffering dire conditions inside Tehran’s Evin prison, according to reports received from inside the jail.

The prisoners are being tortured, deprived of basic living conditions and being held 24 hours a day in former isolation rooms with no windows or ventilation.

The highly humid conditions are causing many prisoners to have heart and breathing problems and some have developed dermatological illnesses. The only fresh air they can enjoy is being allowed to sit outdoors for a few moments on Saturdays.

There are also only four showers and restrooms for 75 prisoners, many with no hot water and no access to soap or shampoo.

They are denied to right to write to their families and being served sub-standard food.

Members of the families of some the sickest prisoners have begged the authorities to allow them to have hospital treatment, but all requests have been rejected.
