800 indoctrinated extremists back from Syria 'ready to strike' and Britain is at HIGH risk
HUNDREDS of Islamist extremists are preparing to launch terror attacks in Europe after coming back from Syria and Iraq, it has been revealed.
Spanish counterterrorism sources revealed that the al-Qaeda and Islamic State extremists are living in Europe waiting for the order to commit terrorist atrocities at the right moment.
It is thought that 350 are Britons who have returned from Islamic State-controlled territories abroad.
An insider said: “These people are not well trained, but they are poised and prepared to do anything.
"Once they have been indoctrinated, they receive the minimum training."
Francisco MartÃnez, Spain’s security minister, said last week: “These young men are so quickly converted to support Islamic State, and in a few weeks they become fanatics.
"They go to war zones or they stay where they live and act like lone wolves.”
The shock warning comes just days after a crazed gunman tried to open fire on a packed train in France.
Officials reportedly believe Ayoub El-Khazzani, suspected of committing the attack, was briefed by others before boarding the high-speed Thalys train in Amsterdam.
A Spanish anti-terrorist official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed El Khazzani had lived in Spain until last year, moved to France then travelled to Turkey then Syria where he is believed to have trained with ISIS before returning to France.
