Success: Sen. Jeff Flake to Oppose Iran Agreement

Once again, our grassroots efforts have made a difference. We asked our ACT for America grassroots volunteers to call Sen. Jeff Flake and tell him to oppose President Obama's deal with Iran. The Administration hoped to get Flake to vote yes, giving this terrible deal a fig leaf of bipartisanship.

After thousands of phone calls, Senator Flake has announced that he will NOT support the Iran deal! This announcement, coupled with the announcement of incoming Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer, makes it easier for those Senators who want to break with President Obama to do so.

Remember, Sen. Flake is just one vote. We must continue to make the phones ring! Please, click here to call, or click here to write, your Senators and Representatives and tell them that this Iran deal must not happen!

When each of us does a little, we can accomplish a lot. Keep it up!

U.S. Senator Jeff Flake announced his opposition on Saturday to the nuclear deal with Iran despite White House lobbying to try to convince the Arizona Republican to break from others in his party and back the accord when U.S. lawmakers vote on it.

The agreement that Iran reached with the United States and other world powers on July 14 "does contain benefits in terms of limiting Iran's ability to produce sufficient fissile material for a nuclear weapon for a period of time, particularly at its known nuclear facilities," Flake said in a statement.

"But these benefits are outweighed by severe limitations the (agreement) places on Congress and future administrations in responding to Iran's non-nuclear behavior in the region," Flake added.
