DUHOK – The radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) executed an Iraqi journalist in Mosul city in the Iraqi northwestern province of Nineveh, local sources reported on Tuesday.
Iraqi journalist Ikhlas Ghanim was shot dead by the group on charges of supporting anti-ISIS propaganda.
“The group executed her in front of a crowd of people in central Mosul,” an eyewitness told ARA News.
“They said she was contributing to a hostile propaganda; however, Ghanim was reporting violations committed by ISIS in Mosul.”
The extremist group has executed more than 25 Iraqi journalists in Nineveh province over the past two months.

ISIS executed the Iraqi journalist and reporter of Saladin TV Adel Saegh in Mosul city of Nineveh province two weeks ago.
Saegh was shot dead by an ISIS militant in Qassim Sawas square in Mosul city “on charges of serving anti-ISIS propaganda”, a security official said.
Speaking to ARA News, Iraqi security official Zanoun Sabaawi said that the ISIS radical group has threatened all journalists and media activists of execution if they report on local developments in the ISIS-held areas.
“Terrorists of Daesh (ISIS) want all their violations and atrocities against the Iraqi people to go unnoticed. That’s why they intend to prevent reporters from covering local news in places like Mosul,” Sabaawi said.
The Iraqi official told ARA News that the decision has been issued by the ISIS-linked Sharia Court in Nineveh province earlier this month, and that the group has subsequently arrested dozens of media activists and journalists “who do not serve the agenda of the alleged caliphate”.
Earlier in August, ISIS militants executed the journalist Sabah Muhammad and photographer waleed Abdullah, who worked for al-Musiliyah channel in Mosul, on charges of violating the group’s regulations.
