Arnold Mengelkoch is a migration officer in the Berlin suburb of Neukölln. In “Der Tagesspiegel“, he warns how a large number of refugees and migrants are changing Germany’s capital in the wrong direction. A headmistress of a focus school even says: “We are heading for the Middle Ages”.

An 18-year-old girl walks near the Wannsee in a bikini and meets four Arab men. They loudly call her a “slut”, because how could she dress like this?

A 60-year-old woman walks with her husband in the park and suddenly an Arab man asks her if she wants to have sex with him in the bushes.

An Arabic speaking man walks with his niece in Neukölln and hears a lot of obscene remarks. Reason? His niece does not wear a headscarf.

Just three examples from Berlin, a city with millions of inhabitants, but they are not isolated cases. People working with refugees tell the same stories as well as other inhabitants of Germany’s capital.

“I no longer feel well and safe in this city. Something is out of control here,” says a 48-year-old inhabitant who has lived in Berlin for a long time.

According to migration officer Mengelkoch, there are now an enormous number of young men in the city, “who are bored and have no work”. He adds that “Many refugees have a picture of women in which the man determines the rules. Anyone who does not wear a headscarf is considered a sexual object”.

A headmistress of a focus school says that “seven-year-old schoolgirls are wearing headscarves” and girls who don’t are threatened with their lives. She says “We are on the way to the Middle Ages” and adds that “Education does not matter, the main thing is religion”.

Peter Hermanns, who manages a refugee accommodation, thinks there are no real solutions. Refugees come to him and have elementary questions like: “Where is the limit if I want to have contact with women? How do I address women? How do I respond to signals?”

There is also the case of an Arab father, who showed up in a day care centre with his son, saw the children playing and told the kindergarten director: “It is clear that my son does not play with girls.”

Integration in Berlin has a long way to go and the question is how much patience the city’s inhabitants have with guests who continuously have religiously motivated and retarded views of girls and women.
