Are Mosque Protesters “Fraidy-Cats,” Or Just Not Gullible Anymore?

Intolerant. That’s what we are. We’re bigots too. Eugene Robinson says today in the Washington Post that we’re a bunch of “fraidy-cats.” Richard Cohen says we are engaging in “demagogic buffoonery.” They incorrectly compare the mosque protest to African Americans fighting for civil rights when leaders called for compromise in those days too. The analogy is a false one. African Americans did not attack America and murder our citizens. The Left will continue this false argument. They are determined to marginalize 68% of the American public who are against building this mosque so close to Ground Zero, because we see it as a symbol of victory for Islam. The Left sees it as bigotry, and continues to play that card every chance they get, no matter what the issue.
What were we when we said very little when Scotland released the Lockerbie bomber for humanitarian reasons because he was supposedly dying? It turns out President Obama did not object and knew ahead of time he was going to be released. We watched as Libyans rejoiced in the streets when he was released, and worse, he didn’t die! This is a perfect example of our enemies lying straight to our faces to get their way. We try to be tolerant and “humanitarian,” only to get duped, time and time again.
Robinson and Cohen argue in their editorials that a small sliver of Muslims are extremists and the protesters of the mosque are judging the entire religion on a tiny minority who hijacked Islam. Yet how do they explain all of the Muslims who danced in the streets when the Twin Towers were attacked and our citizens were brutally murdered? They also have no problem with Imam Rauf’s statements regarding US complicity in the attacks of 9/11. This is so typical of the Left. They call names and leave out facts when discussing issues important to most Americans, instead of analyzing the whole picture and understanding the issue from all sides. They did this during the health care reform debate, and with every other issue that conservatives care about.
But this time, it is more than just conservatives who object to building the mosque so close to Ground Zero. This is not just a Democrat issue or a Republican issue. It is an American issue, and a response from citizens who refuse to believe the subterfuge and lies that come out of the Islamic world so often. They say one thing, and do another. How much more gullibility should we exhibit in the name of “tolerance?”
