Libertarians’ Leftist Love Affair with Islam

Libertarians are having a leftist-style love affair with Islam. They defend Islam while trashing America as the violent oppressor of Muslims, the Middle East, and freedom. And they side with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf against the Ground Zero mosque protesters, saying America caused 9/11 and “the Imam is right” in his claims that “America has more blood on its hands than al Qaeda.”
The radical libertarians at Daily Paul, a site dedicated to Ron Paul, the GOP’s Howard Dean, are the worst. They insist Americans protesting the Ground Zero mosque, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, and sharia law refuse to believe America has committed what the UN reports as 170 9/11s against Muslim countries, because Americans love war.
For example, libertarian columnist Jack Hunter, aka the Southern Avenger, has a Youtube video up at Daily Paul agreeing with Rauf’s remarks that “the United States has killed more innocent Muslims than al Qaeda has killed Americans.” Hunter declares:
Amen to the Imam! This is true regardless of who says it. The Imam is right.
He agrees with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf that the 9/11 attacks were Islam’s:
reaction against the U.S. government politically, where we [America] espouse principles of democracy and human rights and where we [Americans] ally ourselves with oppressive regimes [like Israel] in other countries…the United states policies were an accessory to the crime that happened…because…[Americans] have been accessor[ies] to a lot of innocent lives dying in the world…in fact, in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden was made in the USA.
Ron Paul agrees with Rauf too:
This sentiment seems to confirm that Islam itself is to be made the issue and radical religious Islamic views were the only reasons for 9/11. If it became known that 9/11 resulted in part from a desire to retaliate against what many Muslims saw as American aggression and occupation, the need to demonize Islam would be difficult if not impossible. There is no doubt that a small portion of radical, angry Islamists do want to kill us but the question remains, what exactly motivates this hatred?
Radicals themselves, libertarians “white-wash” Islam’s radicalism: Muslims strictly adhere to sharia law which “is not optional. Sharia is the legal code ordained by Allah for all mankind.” Constitutional rights that libertarians claim to uphold are non-existent in Islam: Sharia “infringe[s] on many modern principles of human rights, religious freedom, and equality of all before the law.”
Hunter and Paul’s views are typical libertarian ideology that is more in line with leftists than authentic conservatives protesting Islamic conquer.
Hunter supports Rauf’s vicious comments, insisting the “U.S.-led sanction against Iraq led to the deaths of over a half a million Iraqi children in the 1990’s,” because the United Nations confirms the numbers. According to Hunter, Americans refuse to accept UN facts, because:
