On Monday, December 3, members of the Legal Project at the Middle East Forum participated in a Capitol Hill panel discussion about "The Istanbul Process and the OIC's Continuing Efforts to Implement Restrictions to Prevent the Defamation of Islam: Part II".
LP Column on the Spanish persecution of Imran Firasat for his anti-Muhammad film
In September of 2012, supposedly because of an obscure "anti-Islam" film named "Innocence of Muslims," the Islamic world erupted with violent protests towards Westerners for exercising their right to free speech. Since then, Western government's have shown extreme sensitivity to free speech in the West regarding Islam. Just this December, we saw another person targeted by European nations for his critical speech about Islam.

French magazine will publish comic book about Muhammad despite threat of violence

A French weekly known for publishing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed to the ire of conservative Muslims said Sunday it plans to release a comic book biography of Islam's founder that will be researched and educational.
Spain to deport Pakistani to Pakistan despite likely death penalty for his "blasphemy"

The Interior Ministry has decided to revoke the asylum status of Imran Firasat, a Pakistani national living in Spain since 2010 who on December 14 announced his intention to release a video in which, among other things, he asks whether Mohammed "was a child molester and a murderer."
British Atheist facing legal charges for objecting to the religion of Islam

An atheist shocked Muslim volunteers at a stall promoting Islam when he ripped out pages from the Koran.
The New Hecker's Veto: When riots in other countries is used to justify censorship in the U.S.

"In any war between the civilized man and the savage," says the ad, "support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat jihad." On September 6, the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) signed a contract to buy space for this message from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), which had concluded that the First Amendment required it to accept the controversial ad. Less than two weeks later, WMATA declared that AFDI's advocacy was not constitutionally protected after all, pointing to violent Middle Eastern protests blamed on Innocence of Muslims, an online video mocking the prophet Muhammad.

As of December 10, 2012, Dr. Terry Jones has been officially banned from entering Spain or any other country of the Schengen States, by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior for a period of two years. The Schengen States include: Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Norway, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Iceland, Netherlands, Malta.
Danish ex-Muslim tried for "hate speech" against Islam

On Thurday December 13th 2012, Danish-Iranian artist Firoozeh Bazrafkan was in the court of Århus, Denmark, suspectet for having violated Article 266b of the Danish penal code, which criminalizes derogative or threatening statements against a variety of minorities. This is a report from her day in court.
Heckler's Veto – Second Anti-Muhammad movie intimidates Europeans

Internationally-known Koran burner Terry Jones has returned to the internet with a film condemning Islam's prophet Muhammad after Jones helped promote the internet trailer Innocence of Muslims, a source of global controversy. Posted on Jones' website Stand Up America, the over one-hour long movie The Innocent Prophet: The Life of Muhammad from a Different Point of View uses mainly cartoon images to present Muhammad and Islam as fraudulent. Legal actions taken against Jones' co-producer, the Pakistani exile Imran Fisarat now living in Spain, show once again how free speech critical of Islam is under threat.
Is Imran Firasat a shady character or are Islamists/PC Types trying to blacken his name?

I've made various posts about Imran Firasat here. In the comments section below some of them, (usually anonymous) posters have made various allegations about him having an unsavoury past, including the specific claim that he committed a murder in Indonesia. I've assumed that this was part of a campaign my Muslims to discredit a critic of Islam, and still think that is the most likely explanation.

This is "Imran Firasat" a Pakistani national residing in Spain as a political refugee. Today I have seen on your website that someone claimed to be the victim's wife and saying that I killed her husband and that I fled Indonesia after killing someone.
