Wallace, discuss Rouhani's UNGA speech and first 100 days on Al Jazeera America yesterday.] New York, NY - Today, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) applauded U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) and Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY) for their Op-Ed in today's Los Angeles Times, "U.S. needs action, not words, from Iran," which comes at the midway point of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's first 100 days in office. In the piece, Congressmen Royce and Engel state that "what really matters is what Rouhani does with his first 100 days in office," as "it will be a reasonable test of whether he can match his words with actions." Congressmen Royce and Engel developed the 100 days concept in conjunction with UANI, agreeing that Rouhani will realistically demonstrate within his first 100 days in office whether there truly is an opening for a workable diplomatic solution over Iran's nuclear program. Today, UANI launched its "First 100 Days" resource, which tracks Rouhani's record for demonstrable change in three key areas: Iran's nuclear program, its human rights record, and its role in Syria. As UANI CEO, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, stated yesterday: Every new world leader is judged by the first 100 days in office ... If President Rouhani and the Supreme Leader were serious about changing Iran's substance with their nuclear program and the way they want to negotiate, they could do it today. ... So let's hope that they are serious, but until we see substantive action in that direction we have to be very cautious. President Rouhani's first 100 days in office are a test of whether he can and will match his words with actions. If it so decided, Iran could - in a matter of days - suspend uranium enrichment and the installation of advanced centrifuges, open its facilities for inspection, release all political prisoners, end its support for terrorism, and end its involvement in the slaughter in Syria. By the end of Rouhani's 100 days we will be in the best position to judge whether he has truly brought change to Iran.
