It’s the Jews again! Jews control the world, and all the government corruption in Muslim countries and even natural disasters are planned by that incredibly powerful 0.2% of the population! The latest feat? The coal mine disaster in Turkey which killed over 100 people. Somehow, Jews are responsible according to the pro-government Turkish newspaper, Yeni Akit.

The JTA reports that the newspaper’s headline criticized the owner of the Soma Coal Mine Company for having a Jewish son-in-law. “The Yeni Akit article criticized the mining owner, Alp Gurkan, for ‘giving his daughter to a Jew’ and suggested that this is why foreign media are ‘attacking Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyim Erdogan’ for the disaster.”

Erdogan is certainly no friend to Israel. He was recently caught shouting an anti-Israel slur at a protester at the site of the coal mine disaster. “Why are you running away, Israeli spawn?” he yelled while surrounded by angry protesters.

Of all the crazy claims Erdogan has made against Israel, one of the most bizarre was this summer when he blamed Israel for the coup in Egypt. To take the pressure off themselves, it is typical for governments to place the blame elsewhere for their own shortcomings, and in the Muslim world, Jews are a common scapegoat. So here we go again.

The same tactic was used recently in Egypt. During his trial, Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie claimed that his movement was not against Egypt but only against the Jews. Incidentally, over the past 90 years, the Jewish population in Egypt has fallen from 80,000 to less than 40. There are about 11 Egyptian Jews in Cairo today. Yet amazingly, all this mess in Egypt was about those 40 Jews!

Badie is not alone in blaming Jews for the political unrest in the Middle East during the Arab Spring. Politicians and clerics alike devised conspiracy theories, quoting from The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic work of fiction that remains a popular read in the Muslim world, and shifting the focus of Egypt’s failing economy on the “powerful Jews” who “run” the world.

Even this year, an Egyptian play blamed the “Hareidi Mossad” (really? Hareidi Mossad?) for the Arab Spring by covert operations in a ploy to control the world and “sow disunity” in the entire Arab World.

In Libya, Gaddafi was marked as a Jew by his dissenters, and there was more of the same in Tunisia and Syria, where Assad has been accused of being a Jewish agent.

Or Avi-Guy of The Jerusalem Post reported in 2011, “Syrian writer Osama al-Malouhi wrote [...] on an opposition website that Jews ‘want that sucker of Syrian blood to remain and continue to prey and suck blood… asking myself why Jewish support of Bashar increased after they saw rivers of Syrian blood this mass-murderer spilled in Syrian towns, an old image leapt to my mind, of Jews bleeding people and using their blood to prepare matzas.’”

This blood libel also remains popular in Egypt as a way to intensify the hatred of Jews. In 2013, Egyptian Politician Khaled Zaafrani made the following claims:

“It is the Jews who have instigated wars in the world,” Zaafrani said during the interview. “They instigated World War I, as well as World War II, and they will keep on instigating wars. The Jews cannot live without wars, conspiracies, deceit, and deception. We can rest assured that the Jews will not seek or uphold peace.

“It s well known that during the Passover, they make matzos called the ‘Blood of Zion,’” he continued. “They take a Christian child, slit his throat and slaughter him. Then they take his blood and make their [matzos]. This is a very important rite for the Jews, which they never forgo.”

Asked by the interview whether the Jews do this to this day, Zaafrani replied, “Absolutely…”

This year, 2014, is another year, another matzah blood libel. Egyptian journalist Firnas Hafzi wrote in an article titled “The Jewish Bloodsuckers On Passover” that Jews kill non-Jews during this holiday in order to use their blood in preparing matzahs. The article sounds well-researched and professional, making it dangerously convincing to those who are already brainwashed to hate Jews, and especially when their only source of knowledge on Judaism is the Egyptian press.

One would think such ridiculous claims would have ended hundreds of years ago, but when books like Protocols and Mein Kampf are bestsellers in the Muslim world, and the hatred of Jews is interwoven in an Islamic society which incites hatred and violence against Jews (it’s in their holy books after all!), people are inclined to believe this nonsense.
