UANI Applauds U.S. Senate for Passing Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act

New York, NY - United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace and UANI President Gary Samore issued the following statement today following the U.S. Senate's passage of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, commonly referred to as the "Corker-Menendez" bill:

UANI applauds Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker, Ranking Member Ben Cardin, and former chairman Bob Menendez for their bipartisan leadership in making the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act a reality.

A full understanding of the provisions of a final deal among the negotiating parties remains elusive. At the same time, the Iranian regime has failed to cease its irresponsible behavior in a number of areas, including its sponsorship of terror, human rights violations, and support for movements and entities that stoke sectarian tensions and contribute to destabilization in the region.

Clearly any Iran nuclear deal will have far reaching implications and consequences for U.S. foreign policy, regional stability, and non-proliferation efforts. Congressional oversight and a full and open debate about the merits of any final agreement are therefore essential to ensure a fully verifiable deal that prevents a nuclear-armed Iran.
