Petition: Canada must support US trial of Omar Khadr & reject refugee status for Gitmo ex-detainees

Ottawa, February 12, 2009

Attention Residents of Canada,

If you believe that Canada should allow the trial against Omar Khadr, charged with murder, to proceed under United States process in Guantanamo Bay, and that Canada should NOT grant refugee status to former terror-linked detainees of Guantanamo Bay who have no connection to Canada, then you must let Prime Minister Stephen Harper know what you think by signing the petition at:

http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/canada-must-support-us-trial-of-omar-khadr.html

So far, our government has mainly heard from groups calling for the return of these terror-linked individuals to Canada. If the voice of average Canadians is not heard, there is a good chance that this handful of advocates will prevail, and that Canada will once again be the landing pad for individuals linked to terror.

PLEASE SIGN TODAY, and forward this notice to everyone whom you believe would have an interest in making his or her opinion known to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

In addition, you can directly contact the Prime Minister at pm@pm.gc.ca or write or fax the Prime Minister’s office at:

Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington Street
Ottawa
K1A 0A2
Fax: 613-941-6900
