Update on Anti-Sharia Legislation
By Kelly Cook, National Field Director
The response we have had regarding anti-sharia legislation at the state level has been nothing short of amazing!
Spurred by the recent Oklahoma 755 victory (and the obligatory CAIR lawsuit challenging it) along with our recent chapter leader conference call on this subject, I have been flooded with requests for instructions on how to implement this strategy in many states.
Do you want to help leave a lasting legacy for your state? Introduce us to common sense legislators who are willing to sponsor or co-sponsor this legislation!
This is a perfect example of the incredible synergistic power of our grassroots network. Just knowing that when you are tackling this problem in your state, many others are doing likewise in their respective states, this creates a realization that yes, we have finally turned the corner. We are starting to pro-actively win rather than just reactively responding to the advances of sharia law and radical Islam.
I welcome your help regardless of whether there is an effort already underway in your state or not. Everyone owns a different "rolodex"—a unique set on contacts. You may know state legislators others don't.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for contributing to this effort for your state's future. Once we have squared away your Governor's signature and witnessed this idea becoming law in your state, imagine the overwhelming feeling you will have and the security you will have created—for your children and grandchildren. That is a legacy we can all live with!

Hey! You Need to Read This!
A Book Review of
"Because They Hate" by Marsha L. Boeck
|
|
My husband read "Because They Hate" by Brigitte Gabriel and he said to me "Hey, you need to read this." The book sat on our coffee table for several months without being picked up, dusted or read. I had several excuses for avoiding the book. I didn't like the title. I didn't want to read about hate. I just didn't want to deal with the problems in the Middle East. I was never able to understand who was fighting who, and why? It was all just confusing to me, I wanted to block it out of my mind.
I don't remember when or why, but one day I started reading "Because They Hate." Much to my surprise this book was not all about hate. It was mostly about the very deep and powerful LOVE of two elderly parents for their only daughter Brigitte. This powerful love made it possible for their small family to survive the Lebanese war in the Middle East.
Brigitte Gabriel was born into a Christian family in the small town of Marjayoun in Lebanon. Her father was a former government official and a successful businessman and her mother was a homemaker. Her mother and father's marriage had been childless for 20 years, so Brigitte's birth was a source of great joy to them and the entire town celebrated her birth. As she was growing up, over and over again, Brigitte heard her parents say to her… "We love you higher than the skies, deeper than the oceans, and bigger than the whole wide world."
Lebanon in the early 1970's was a majority Christian country but by 1975 the Muslims were on a rampage to eradicate all Christians from the country. Brigitte and her parents were victims of this war. Their home was destroyed by bombs, her father's business was ruined, their small town destroyed. They survived in a bomb shelter for seven years and were finally rescued by the Israelis. All this time, Brigitte grew in wisdom, courage, faith and understanding. She learned to speak English, went on to become a college student and a television news reporter. As her parents grew older, she cared for them as they had loved and cared for her as a child. Eventually her parents passed on and Brigitte buried them in a Christian cemetery on the southern slope of Jerusalem. This same cemetery holds the grave of Oscar Shindler. If you ever visit Oscar Shindler's grave you will walk past the grave of Brigitte's parents. They are the only couple buried with the word "Lebanon" on their gravestone.
This book helped me to understand the confusion of the conflicts in the Middle East. When the evening television news comes on, I no longer "tune out" the news about the Middle East. I understand it now and I know how it impacts us here in the United States. I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to understand the never ending conflicts of our current world and the threats to Christianity and other religions.
It is also important that we begin to help our children understand our tumultuous world. Their future freedom as Christians is in jeopardy. If I had a son or a daughter 8-12 years old, I would read the first half of the book aloud to them. I would read one section a night to them and then I would tuck them into bed and tell them "I love you higher than the skies, deeper than the oceans and bigger than the whole wide world."

Chapter Leader of the Month
Shari Goodman, Calabasas, California
By Kelly Cook, National Field Director
So many chapter leaders are in the running for this award every month. It is becoming increasingly difficult to choose as we are nearing the 500 chapter level!
Shari Goodman and her dedicated team of volunteers have been faithfully involved in growing this vibrant chapter since August of 2008. They hold a regular monthly meeting that often attracts several hundred chapter members and have developed a reputation for attracting some of the best guest speakers and chapter meeting content in the ACT! for America movement.
But what really attracted my attention to the maturity of this chapter is the recent addition of the following committees: MOSQUE MONITORING; MEDIA MONITORING; COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY MONITORING; SCHOOL & TEXTBOOK CURRICULUM MONITORING; SHARIA FINANCE MONITORING; RELIGIOUS LIASONS FOR CHURCHES & SYNAGOGUES; ELECTED OFFICIALS LIASONS.
|
If your chapter hasn't adopted this community monitoring and vital bridge building with chapter appointed liaisons, please seriously consider implementing them right away. If we don't know where the problems are, how will we ever address them? And if we don't have vital relationships with Churches, Synagogues and Elected Officials, our ability to address identified threats is greatly diminished.
I'll close with just a final thought from Shari Goodman to her incredible team:
"Thank you for those who have volunteered to be on the committees! For those who want to get involved, please drop me a line. Our committee meeting will be Wednesday evening Dec. 8th at the Corner Bakery in the Calabasas Commons at 7:00 p.m. We can eat while we schmooze.
"As Rev. Jesse Peterson said last night at our chapter meeting, 'this is a battle of good against evil' and we are the foot soldiers in this battle. We must win it!"
We salute Shari, her persistency and the obvious lifetime friendships she is building with her team!
