The Left’s anti-American and anti-capitalist agenda has led its faithful to consistently support adversarial dictators and mass murderers throughout history — from Joseph Stalin to Mao Tse-tung to Saddam Hussein. Today, as tensions in Egypt continue to escalate, it’s déjà vu all over again. Code Pink, that collection of self-proclaimed feminists supposedly devoted to women’s rights, peace and justice, is revealing its true nature once again. As the evidence reveals, the organization’s supposed support for democracy in Egypt is really just a thinly-veiled effort to undermine American and Israeli security interests; indeed, by lending aid and comfort to the radical Muslim terrorist groups that are exploiting turmoil in Egypt, Code Pink is leading the Left in helping Islamists to re-establish the Islamic caliphate.

The notion that Code Pink is supporting a democratic movement that will bring freedom to oppressed Egyptians after thirty years of tyranny surely sounds noble and appealing to the leftist group’s legion of supporters. But Jodie Evans and the rest of the staff over at Code Pink know exactly what they are really doing. They have, after all, seen fundamentalist Islam first hand. In 2009, Code Pink organized a gathering of over one thousand “peace activists” to show support for Palestinians in Gaza. This also meant demonstrating solidarity with the ruling power in Gaza: Hamas. Cuddling up with terrorists didn’t appear to bother Code Pink much, as the ladies readily accepted the protection of Hamas while they were in Gaza. The Jerusalem Post’s Caroline Glick recounted how the hundred or so who actually made it into Gaza were treated:

“Hamas immediately placed them under siege. The Palestinian champions had planned to enjoy home hospitality from friends in Gaza. But once there they were prohibited from leaving the Hamas-owned Commodore Hotel and from having any contact with local Gazans without a Hamas escort. Rather than being permitted to judge the situation in Gaza for themselves, they were carted onto Hamas buses and taken on “devastation tours” of what their Hamas tour guides claimed was damage caused by the IDF during Operation Cast Lead. And then these international protesters were forced to participate in a Hamas-organized march to the Erez crossing.”

No matter how shabbily they were treated by Muslim terrorists, Code Pink members – then and now – remain convinced that all of the problems in the Middle East will be solved if America leaves the region and Israel disappears. There are no other enemies of freedom any consequence as far as the Left is concerned and we’re seeing that radical point of view in evidence once again as Code Pink and fellow fringe activists like Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorn work to further the agenda of radical Islamist groups like Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

As Kristin Taylor and Andrea Shea King reported at Big Government, Code Pink appealed to followers to: Help us raise $5,000 in emergency funds today to support the Egyptian revolution.” As of Friday Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin tweeted that they had already raised $10,000. This would not be the first example of Code Pink helping to fan the flames of unrest in Egypt. When the organization was attempting to launch the “Gaza Freedom March” from Egypt in 2009, Benjamin co-authored a letter chiding the Mubarak government for potentially interfering with their plans. The letter went on to say: “If these plans are canceled there will be a lot of unjustified suffering for the Palestinians of Gaza and over a thousand internationals who had nothing in mind but noble intentions.“ The Muslim Brotherhood was so pleased with a letter that simultaneously attacked Mubarak and elicited sympathy for Hamas-ruled Gaza that they published it on their web site. Additionally, the Muslim Brotherhood has published Code Pink banner ads, including one urging the arrest of George W. Bush, at its web site.
