SAS troops blown up in SECRET GROUND BATTLE against evil ISIS militants
ELITE British soldiers from the SAS were peppered with grenades from heinous Islamic State militants during a top-secret mission in Iraq.
The British, German and US special forces operation – which was part of the Coalition Joint Special Operations Task Force – was designed to spot weak areas in the depraved death cult’s defences and hound terrorist positions outside ISIS-operated Mosul.
But just 10 miles south of Mosul’s airport the savage fighters ambushed the British soldiers, firing at them with 50-calibre guns and even rocket-propelled grenades (RPG), according to the Mirror.
The evil jihadis shot at the soldiers from mounted machine gun positions on American-built Humvee vehicles which were stolen from Iraq’s army.
The Daesh militants were all killed in the reported 15-minute shootout which also required an airstrike.
Incredibly, the coalition team survived, but suffered fragmentation and blast injuries during the 25-strong allied patrol.
An insider said: “The enemy were up to 30 strong and heavily armed. An air strike was needed to resolve it.”
The wounded soldiers – who were hit by RPG shrapnel – were reportedly treated on the ground before being airlifted and evacuated to the UK.
